The Secret of the Blood [ Forward Message via Email ]
The blood is something of great significance to all creatures because it keeps the whole body alive by regulating body temperature, and supplying nutrients and oxygen to every part of the body through veins while protecting the body by transporting harmful substances like carbon dioxide out of the body system through arteries and also fighting harmful bacteria with the white blood cells; this is why doctors find it effective to inject drugs into the blood to combat diseases.

The life of anyone starts up like a ball of blood in the womb and from this all the human organs in time are later formed from it. Scientists say an adult man has about 5-6 litres of blood; and a shortage of blood in the body at anytime can lead to the death of that person or can cause the death of a body part, if enough blood was not supplied to that part for a certain period.

It will amaze you to know that even though the heart is one of the most important part of the the body, all it does is to pump blood to every part of the body. The heart is only like a water pump trying to get water out of a well. The blood is like a river of living water running through valleys called veins and arteries - this is why we have to understand the importance of the blood to mankind. The scriptures says “For the life of the flesh is in the blood”(Leviticus 17:11).

“And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.” Genesis 4:10

The blood doesn't only have physical importance, it also has a great significance when it comes to the things of the spirit; the blood seems to link the physical to the spiritual, and that is why when Cain killed his brother, Abel, God said to him that his brother's blood was crying to Him (Genesis 4:10). Anywhere there is a bloodshed (especially of an innocent man) it leaves a kind of spiritual smell even after it has physically been washed away, and that is why the scriptures says that what God hates most is the shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17). The myth that the Bermuda Triangle is a place where aliens operated on earth because of the mysterious disappearances of planes and ships which passed its route, was only discovered to be as a result of the bloodshed of African slaves during the time of the slave trade. Some missionaries did a research and found out that many of the slaves that were being transported from Africa to America were chained together and thrown into the ocean to innocently die. This gave room for evil spirits to dominate the area because the blood of the innocent dead was still crying out even after several centuries of the actual event. This missionaries went to that area to break this curse by taking the Holy Communion.

People who murder others and think they are getting away with it are only laying up for themselves a day of destruction because the blood of those they killed are still crying out. If you are such a person, you still have time to repent before it is too late. Proverbs 28:17 says “A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him”.

It may surprise you to know that people don't kill others by shooting them to death only but people are silent murderers when they don't preach the gospel to others especially a person that knows God's calling for his life and refuses to do it. The Lord told me once of how many people have died because I was lukewarm about preaching the gospel. I won't say the amount but I tell you they are in hundreds of thousands.

Let me illustrate what I mean from this example; imagine you see a man that puts a knife on his neck and wants to cut himself, won't you try to stop him? It will be a great wickedness to see such and say nothing. What if it was your brother? When we choose not to preach the gospel, we are actually condemning men to death because anyone that has not received the sacrifice of Christ by faith is on the the road to eternal death. It is the preaching of the gospel that can save such a soul from eternal damnation because physical death is not the end of life: a person dies physically but it doesn't mean that that is the end of his life but a person that refuses to accept the blood sacrifice of Christ for his eternal redemption is on the path of eternal death. If you are saying what if I preach to them and they refused to listen, then you can say as Paul said “Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men” (Act 20:26 ). You can't really save anyone in your own might or wisdom, it is only God that can save but your business is to preach the gospel, so that the Holy Spirit can use those words in ministering to their heart because the Holy Spirit can convert even the greatest sinner – at least Paul, who formerly was called Saul is a good example (Acts 9).

All what I am trying to say is that blood is of great importance both physically and spiritually and that is why we must realize the importance of the blood of Jesus. The scriptures says that the blood of Jesus speaks even better things than that of Abel. Hebrews 12:24 says “And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel”.

The fact is that many Christians have heard about the blood of Jesus but only a few actually realize the power of it, thus many are not able to tap into its fullness because what you don't understand, you can't fully benefit from.

Many Christians know about the Holy Spirit and know about the power of the Word of God but don't know about the real essence of the blood of Jesus even in this dispensation: many Christians think the blood is just to get a person born again while some others think that the concept of the blood is only for the Old Testament believers but the scriptures says there are three things that bear witness on earth – the Holy Spirit, the Word (water) and the lastly the blood. Therefore it is of great importance that we understand this open secret, the power of the blood of Jesus. 1 John 5:8 says “And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one”.

I believe as we go on in this message, you would understand the significance of the blood to the New Testament believer, its benefits and how to apply it.

The Blood and the Old Testament
For us to understand what the blood stands for in this dispensation of grace, we need to look into its purpose in the Old Testament because the Old Testament is a shadow of the reality of the New Testament.

“Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” - Genesis 3:21

I believe the first animal sacrifice recorded in scriptures was performed by God in the Garden of Eden because God made coats from animal skin and gave them to Adam and Eve, which I believe came from a sacrifice the Lord performed for the remission of their sins because “without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22).

Adam sinned on behalf of all mankind by disobeying God's instruction and this led to a continuous life of sin because man became separated from the life of God and this brought a spiritually death, (Genesis 6:3); but the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Every sin committed must be paid for by blood, and there is no man that has not sinned at least once in his lifetime. If man was to pay for his sins, we will all be dead by now but what God had to temporarily do to rescue mankind from death was to teach him right from the time he sinned in the garden of Eden, how he could temporarily atone for his sins with animal sacrifices even before the law. The offering of animal sacrifice for sin was not a thing of the law but was instituted by God for the temporary atonement for sin. God handed the blueprint of this sacrifice to Adam and he handed it down to others – Abel, Noah, Abraham, etc. Leviticus 17:11 says “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul”.

God desiring to bring permanent redemption to man had to select a people, the Israelites by whom the messiah, the Lamb of God that was to permanently take away the sins of the whole world, would come out of and before this, God formally gave them what was called the passover, which we today call the Easter.

“ Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:” - Exodus 12:5

The Israelites were slaves in Egypt for 400 years but by a great deliverance God brought them out of Egypt; the last night before their deliverance God told them to kill a male lamb that had no blemish and apply its blood on their house, so that when God would pass through the land, he won't kill any of their first born. God said “For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD” (Exodus 12:12 ).

The Israelites kept the passover by faith and thus were delivered from death. If they had not kept it they would have all been destroyed with the Egyptians because God is no respecter of man. Hebrews 11:28 says “Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them”.

When God passed through the Land at night, he killed all the first born of both man and animals that did not have the blood on their house because God said “the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt” (Exodus 12:13).

This was the last act of God that made Pharaoh allow the Israelites to go free. Therefore, the passover was given to the Israelites to commemorate their freedom – their passover from death to live, from slavery to freedom, from torment to rest; and it was to be kept year after year forever. Exodus 12:14 says “And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever”.

After the Israelites left Egypt, God made a covenant with them using the blood of animals. The scriptures said “Moses took half of the blood [of sacrificed animals], and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient. And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words” (Exodus 24:6-8).

The blood of animals was the seal of the Old Testament to the Israelites and also in the Old Testament the blood was also required for the remission of sins for those who broke its laws and ordinances. So the blood was of great significance in the Old Testament and there was hardly any service that was offered to God that didn't require it. Hebrews 9:22 says “almost all things are by the law purged with blood”.

“Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.” - Hebrews 9:1

The Old Testament was established for a carnal man who had lost his spirituality and therefore could not communicate with God in the same frequency, and that is why God had to make an earthly temple, which was a copy of that in Heaven. Service had to be rendered in the earthly sanctuary by men, who are specially chosen to offer sacrifices to God – these men where called priests and amongst them is one special man selected by God for service – he was called the high priest.

Now the sanctuary had different sections, which were namely the outer court and the inner court. The inner court was further divided into the Holy place and the Most Holy Place. Anyone could enter the outer court but only the priests were allowed to go into the inner court to minister to God but only the High Priest could enter the Most Holy Place once a year with blood to offer sacrifices for sin for himself and all others. Hebrews 9:6-7 says “Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people”.

God's desire for man was not to keep him under a bondage of a set of rules but what God wanted with man was to have fellowship with Him once more, and that is why God had to establish the same sanctuary in heaven on earth. It is like this, since man could not come to God, God had to come to him.

The blood of the New Covenant

“But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.” - Hebrews 10:3-4

The first covenant was sealed with the blood of animals which had to be repeated yearly because it could only cover the sin of man but couldn't remove the nature of sin in him; so after sacrifices were made for sin, man still kept sinning. So the Old Testament was all a cycle of endless rituals to cover sin which God was not pleased with. Heb 10:8 says “Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law”.

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:” Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” - Jeremiah 31:31-33

For this reason, God had to establish something better with a much better and perfect blood: thus saying he will make a new covenant with Israel not according to the former covenant but with a new covenant that will affect not only the flesh but also the spirit and soul. Hebrews 9:13-14 says “For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God”?

“Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:” - Hebrews 10:5

A better sacrifice had to be used rather than the blood of animals, if the problem of sin must be dealt with. That is why God whose initial plan had always being to send the human lamb, that was prepared before the foundation of the whole world, sent him into the world to be manifested at an appointed season (Hebrews 9:9-15).

This sacrifice was God himself taking up flesh and coming as the man Jesus, so that by his blood He could redeem man eternally. Hebrews 2:14 says “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil”.

It was required that the sacrificial lamb must be without blemish and Jesus was without sin, so that He could be the perfect sacrifice. If Jesus had come in the form of a Spirit, he would not have had blood to atone for man's sin. The reason why most people look down on Jesus is because of this very act of humility, God taking the form of man. All this he did because of his love for mankind, yet the very people he came to save are rejecting his finished work and despising the blood He shed for them. Stop and think about what God had to go through just to save you and I. Philippians 2:8 says “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross”.

Jesus Christ in many ways proved that He was the original passover lamb that came to save the whole world.

1. The passover lamb had to be without blemish and the scriptures say that Jesus was without sin (Hebrews 4:15).
2. Jesus was crucified in the period in which the passover lamb was being sacrificed (John 19).
3. The body of the passover lamb had to be sacrificed outside the camp and Jesus was killed outside the gate (Hebrews 13:11-12).

Moreover John the baptist pointed Jesus as the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the whole world. John 1:36 says “looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!”

So without a doubt the scriptures clearly pointed to Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God. Even though the devil thought he was winning, he never knew that his foolishness was about to catch up with him. Colossians 2:14-15 says Jesus by his blood “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it”.

“ Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.” - Hebrews 9:18

As said the Old Testament was ratified by the blood of animals but now a much better blood was made available for the atonement of sin because it was necessary that the testator of any testament must first die before the testament can be enforced, as a will is of no effect until the owner of the will dies (Hebrews 9:16-17). So since the first testament was dedicated by the blood of animals, the second testament, which is the New Testament, had to be dedicated by the blood of Jesus. In order words, there could not be a New Testament without the blood of Jesus but many have neglected the blood of Jesus Christ and others have trivialized it but the blood of Jesus Christ is still effective today as it was on the day Jesus shed it on the cross.

Also those that say Jesus Christ is not the only way to salvation are missing it because without blood (pure blood) there can never be atonement for sin; and you can't get pure blood from any man, animal or thing other than from God, because all Creation are out of course, no one is good (Psalm 82:5). Or which other person died to shed his blood? There is no other way to salvation but by accepting the sacrifice of Jesus Christ because He was the only one that offered a perfect sacrifice, which was himself, thus “he is the [only] mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance” (Hebrews 9:15).

The death of Jesus Christ provided redemption for all mankind and changed the order of things as regarding the temple worship. The death of Christ took away the Old sanctuary and brought to focus the true and heavenly sanctuary, which no earthly priest could render service. So the era of the earthly priesthood was also done away with and a new order of priest came to being as Jesus Christ who died as a Lamb, rose as the new High Priest for the Heavenly sanctuary. Then he once and for all took his own blood into the most holy place to offer an eternal sacrifice for sin and by this putting an end to the sacrifices of animal or any other for the atonement of sin (Hebrews 9:25, 10:18). And since Christ will never die again, for it is appointed unto men to die once (Hebrews 9:27), Christ will forever be our High Priest who is constantly interceding for us and not trying to condemn us to death. Hebrews 9:11-12 says “Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us”.

When the earthly Sanctuary was operating, Moses took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you [and also] he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry” (Hebrews 9:19-21), so likewise Christ had to sprinkle his own blood to purify the utensils in the heavenly sanctuary (Hebrews 9:23).

Peace With God through the Blood
Man was more or less an enemy of God because man was disobedient to God but was more obedient to the enemy of God, Satan; and it is certain that you are on the side of whoever you obey (Romans 6:16). Jesus Christ through his blood appeased God, so that man could be at peace with God, because the blood of Jesus Christ forever speaks for us even when we make mistakes. So when God looks at us, he doesn't see us as sinners but as sons because He views us through the blood of Jesus Christ. Colossians 1:20 says “And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven”.

Nevertheless, we shouldn't use the reason of the blood of Christ to be stagnant in our Christian walk but we must learn to draw close to God by allowing our hearts to be sanctified by the Holy Spirit and presenting our bodies as living sacrifices. Hebrews 10:22 says “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water”.

Redemption by the Blood
One of the greatest thing the blood did for man was that it redeemed him from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God, then introduced the forgiveness of sin not just once but forever, and gave man a birthright to be called the sons of God. Colossians 1:13-14 says “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins”.

You must know that redemption is not the same thing as forgiveness; I believe you will get a better understanding of what redemption is as I define it from Webster's dictionary.

Webster's Definition of Redemption
Redemption according to Webster's dictionary is “repurchase of captured goods or prisoners; the act of procuring the deliverance of persons or things from the possession and power of captors by the payment of an equivalent; ransom; release; as the redemption of prisoners taken in war; the redemption of a ship and cargo. Deliverance from bondage, distress, or from liability to any evil or forfeiture, either by money, labor or other means”.

From this we see that redemption is different from forgiveness. Redemption is recovering a good from his captor or deliverance from a bondage, in which the good might not be bad. The scriptures clearly says over and over again that we “were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:18-19). Therefore, we must understand that God totally recovered us just as we are (with our sins) from our captor, the devil, which will mean we as Christians really don't have any business with the devil. An understanding of this will deliver a person from the condemnation of the devil; that is why people must understand how the blood of Jesus functions in this dispensation of grace, so that you can easily overcome bondages. One of the greatest trick of the devil used to deceive Christians is that the trouble or problem they are facing has no solution but an understanding of the power of the blood of Jesus Christ will make you know how easily we can set ourselves free by re-enforcing the deliverance Christ has purchased for us through his blood. The truth is that people do not perish because they have problems but because they lack knowledge (Hosea 4:6). The power of the blood of Jesus Christ has been downplayed in the Church today, but you must know that if the blood of Jesus Christ can forgive and transform the greatest sinner to a saint, how much more will it destroy any covenant that has been made with the devil knowingly or unknowingly!

What is a Covenant?

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

One great mistake that many Christians make is thinking that because they are born again all the covenants that they made or their fathers made before they got born again were broken, and backing it up with 2 Corinthians 5:17 but that is not always true. Most times God in his mercy immediately breaks covenants without us knowing it once a person gets born again but for some he doesn't : that is why some people immediately are set-free from an addiction while for others it takes a process. The truth is that covenants can remain even after you get born again but some Christians may not be aware of it because they were set free automatically by God for certain reasons which I can't say why but for some it might be because God by mercy chooses to. The truth is that many Christians don't even know what a covenant is, so they don't know when they under one.

When a covenant is made with the devil, it simply means access is given for him to influence their lives because covenants are simply accesses to either good or bad. Ecclesiastes 10:8 says “whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him”. The funny thing is that sin is one way the devil can make a covenant with a person even if he is born again: when I say sin, I don't mean every sin you commit might become a covenant with the devil but there are times the devil sets a trap using human agents to create an access t0 influence your life but si nce you don't know which is really a trap you need to watch and pray that the devil does led you into temptation but that God delivers you from evil. That is why the scriptures says “All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not” (1 John 5:17-18).

Covenant with the devil are made with the flesh or material things that belong to a person but when we get born again, we make a new covenant in the blood of Jesus which is a spiritual covenant; this covenant might not immediately nullify that of the flesh but can if we know what to do. If you are having witchcraft attacks and bad dreams, the devil has an access in your life, which you can close up by the blood. In truth, the devil doesn't have right over any Christian except they give him that access through a covenant but I believe that a good understanding of the power of the blood of Christ will help any Christian to perform self deliverance.

Also some Christians refer to the fact that the early Christians didn't need to go through deliverance, so why should any other Christian in this time, while others believe you have to go through deliverance even after you get born again and thus this has brought division to the body of Christ. The truth is that both sets of Christians are right in in a way but they both must understand that God works according to our faith and faith is not limited to a particular pattern, so Christians should not judge each other on how a person should get delivered or not because I have discovered through a revelation of the Holy Spirit that there are two ways in which a person can get deliverance.

Deliverance from dictionary actually means to be set free from bondage or evil, so anytime a person is delivered from a problem that is deliverance. Healing is a form of deliverance because anything that takes away your freedom in the Confined of Christ is a bondage. The scriptures says that the Israelites were under bondage in the hands of the Egyptian and thus could not serve God freely. Tradition is another form of bondage because Paul told the Galatian Church that wanted to return to law of circumcision for salvation after knowing the truth of Christ, not to be entangled again in bondage. This shows that someone that is born again can also be in a bondage even after being born again. Galatians 5:1 says “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage”.

Now revelation knowledge is the best and lasting way to getting and maintaining deliverance without experiencing a problem or a re-occurrence of one but ignorance can keep you in a problem for a long which becomes a stronghold or bondage. When certain patterns of evil keep reoccurring in your life, which some people call bad luck or a generational curse, it could actually be the enemy trying to keep you in a bondage; if you are always having evil and sexual dreams at night; or there is a pattern of a disease or habit that runs in your family (In this aspect I am sure the those in the medical profession will say it is a genetic disease, but I say with authority that God did not create man with a disease and neither does he desire that such should continue indefinitely); I know of someone who never suffered from allergies or had asthma, who went to bed without asthma but had a bad dream and woke up with one that baffled medical doctors and as it completely did not respond to all known asthma medications; and strangely years later a similar dream reoccurred to the child of the lady almost transpired into the asthma; it took fervent prayers to break that covenant of asthma. These all are bondages of the enemy, which can be stopped easily with the blood of Jesus.

“And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.” - 2 Corinthians 5:15-16

The first way I discovered to get deliverance from scripture is to be totally sold out to the gospel, then God breaks those covenants without you knowing it, and that is why when we look at the previous verses of 2 Corinthians 5:17, we will find out that it was talking of a total dedication to the Lord before it said old things are passed away; this was what the earlier believers lived by and that is why there not so much talk of deliverance. There was Paul prayed on handkerchief and aprons to bring deliverance to many. Acts 19:12 says “So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them”.

When a Christian is totally dedicated, then he is dead to the world and thus all covenants are automatically broken and that life and power of Christ made manifest, and in that state the covenant in the blood speaks for itself; no other covenant can then be made with the devil mistakenly because you can't make a covenant with a dead man (Romans 6:6). There was a time in my life I had evil dreams and spiritual attacks even when I was a Christian but there came a season I became totally dedicated to the will of God and one night I had a vision that Kenneth Copeland, a well know minister of God, came to lay his hand on me and I fell under the power of the Holy Spirit in that dream”. From that time on I stopping having bad dreams or spiritual attacks. If you still have evil dreams or spiritual attacks, then you must know the devil has an access into your life to do so even though you are born again. If anyone is saying that they don't believe that covenant with devil can exist exist then they should ask themselves why doesn't everyone that gets born again immediately get a physical manifestation of healing from a sickness, even when the scriptures says that we are already healed (1 Peter 2:24). The scriptures clearly make us know this is only activated when we die to sin and live to Christ which is the same thing about old covenants. 1 Peter 2:24 says “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed”.

The second way which is both popular and also criticized is attacking those covenants through commanding prayer; the first is primarily based on total obedience to the word while the second is based on prayer.

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” - Acts 10:38

If you look throughout scriptures, Jesus Christ performed a lot of deliverance not only by preaching deliverance but also sometimes by a commanding prayer. Therefore deliverance is not only limited to believing the Word of God alone but can also be by prayer but the thing is that people have gone to two extremes where some believe that you have to conduct deliverance by only preaching the Word of God while to others deliverance is only conducted by only a commanding prayer. The funny thing is that both parties are right, so I wonder why there is division. There is really nothing as a deliverance minister because anyone that has an anointing can perform deliverance. Acts 10:38 says Jesus was anointed to deliver those oppressed of the devil, therefore anyone that is anointed by God is licensed to deliver others but anyone that is born again can deliver himself by faith in the blood of Jesus. God's main desire is for everyone to be delivered and for them to deliver others by their experiential knowledge and even go on to deliver their city, state or country but as long as Christians are divided over things that don't matter to salvation – fighting like cats and dogs, and dogmatic about their extreme beliefs they won't be able to do that. It is not the responsibility of the earthly government to establish peace in any region but the role of the Church because we do not wrestle against flesh and blood in the affairs of life, therefore the Church being the only ones equipped for this is the only one that can handle it. So the evils – kidnapping, murder, robbery and such like – occurring in any city, state or country is mainly the fault of the Church. There are so many Churches in the state I stay: in one street you can have as much as 10 Churches but yet evil seems to be predominant. I have never seen darkness sitting comfortably where light is present; darkness always flees. I know that there are false Churches but the true Churches have to drop their pride, traditions, vain-glorying and inexpedient beliefs that have no eternal benefit to the saving of anyone to come together and pray for their nation because many people are suffering and under hardship in many places; and other innocently dying and under spiritual bondage by the enemy. God has promised to deliver a nation that comes together in unity to pray. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”.

This second method of deliverance is a popular way covenants are broken in Churches today because many Christians of these last days are in a lukewarm state and also lazy, therefore they cannot enter into a state of dying to the world and living for God. Nevertheless, there are others whose faith are not yet strong enough to perform self-deliverance using the Word of God, therefore they will need the help of others. This can be done praying an agreement prayer using the blood of Jesus to pray with another Christian and it should not necessarily be a minister in fivefold ministry of the Church. So if after praying about a problem and you don't see changes, then I advise you get a spiritual partner to pray together using the blood of Jesus because the scriptures says “That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 18:19).

“But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.” - Luke 11:20-22

Deliverance is a part of the kingdom of God for wherever the kingdom of God is manifest, there is deliverance from darkness to light as Jesus said if he cast out devils by the power of the Holy Spirit, it reveals the presence of the kingdom of God (Luke 11:20-22). In this example, Jesus had just delivered a person from a dumb and deaf spirit by a commanding prayer, and he particularly said that as long as the devil has a stronghold over a person, he maintains his dominion over that person to keep him in bondage, except when a stronger man, which could be a minister or a more spiritual Christian. This example shows that Jesus Christ also delivered men by a commanding prayer.

One common problem with this second method of deliverance is that it keeps us busy focusing on the devil and, depending on others instead of focusing on God and doing his will while the blood of Jesus automatically takes care of the problem. There might be initially times we need deliverance from a bondage of the enemy because it is hard for a person in bondage to set himself free without the help of another person but when a person keeps needing deliverance and not forging forward, then there is a problem. We can't be delivered over and over from the same problem without overcoming it with the Word of God or a change in character.

God told me once, that once he delivers a person from a problem, that it cannot be undone by the enemy, that they just seek another way to do what they want. The scriptures says in Nahum 1:9 “affliction shall not rise up the second time”, therefore don't let the devil make you doubt that the problem will reoccur once you have been delivered but what the devil could do is to try to reestablish another covenant to get access to you again, thus you have to be careful. Jesus said that “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out” (Luke 11:24).

“And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.” - Luke 11:25-26

This is where most people miss it; when you pray a deliverance prayer and you set a person free, most times the people are not reorientated to change their habit or stop the sin that caused it in the first place and thus when the devil comes back as Jesus Christ said, and finds the place clean and empty, he goes to take more wicked spirits to reoccupy the persons' life and thus the state of that man is worse than before; and that was what Jesus was referring to when he told a man that he healed from a disease of thirty-eight (38) years, that if he continues living a life of sin, a worse sickness will come on him (John 5:14). 2 Peter 2:20 says “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning”.

I was once talking to a Pastor, who said she used to conduct deliverance through prayer for people but she found out that the people came back worse after an initial period of relief but what she didn't know was that people who are delivered easily from spiritual wickedness must be taught the Word of God and told to repent from a life of sin, if they must maintain their deliverance. God upholds everything by the Word of his power (Hebrews 1:3), so a sure way to keep the devil out after casting him out is to fill the heart with the knowledge of the truth of God's Word, if not you will be clean but empty: therefore you will be an easy prey for the devil to get. This is one reason why deliverance through the knowledge of the truth of God's Word can be a more sure way of keeping your deliverance rather than by a commanding prayer because whatever you did not labour for you easily can not keep or maintain.

Some Christians believe that Christians cannot be possessed but they are wrong because even though a person is born again, the devil can still possess him. The word possess means to illegally or legally occupy or to occupy without title or ownership; to seize; thold. From this dictionary meaning of possess it should be clear that a person is possessed if a person has a spiritual infirmity or a spiritual stronghold over his mind. For example, cancer is a spiritual attack on the flesh and that is why it has no actual physical cure. Also when a person can not control his thought pattern, for example in the area of the opposite sex, that can be a stronghold over the mind. Once a person is born again, his spirit is possessed by Spirit of God but his soul and flesh can still be possessed by the devil when he is granted access through sin because man is spirit, soul and body (1 Thessalonian 5:23). It is only when a Christian is totally dedicated to the will of God and to his Word that he can bring out the seed of God in him to affect the soul and the body, only then can a Christian be assured of victory in his soul and flesh.

Higher Covenant
When a higher covenant is established, it overshadows the others. The blood of Jesus brought in a better and more superior covenant and thus no other covenant can nullify it, but it had the power to nullify others. Hebrews 8:13 says “A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away”.

The reason why many Christians suffer from the devil's attacks is because they do not stand against him or reinforce the covenant they have with God through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ, and that is why it seems the devil is so powerful but he can in no way be compared to God: when light enters a room darkness always disappears. Covenants are agreements made between two people, therefore for the new covenant in the blood of Jesus Christ we have our part to keep, and this is to believe in the finished work of the Cross and the shed blood of Jesus Christ. As a Christian, the devil just doesn't have free cause over your life. Imagine the Old Testament saint, Job whom the devil could not touch anything he had until God permitted him, how much more Christians of the New Testament. Total obedience is the first way I said we can break covenants; the reason why many Christians suffer the devil's attacks against their health, prosperity, relationships and so forth is not because God allowed it but because some Christians are not totally obedient to God and thus are not able to activate an automatic covenant cancellation against the devil and reinforce that of the blood of Christ. As long as total obedience is not in place, Christians will always need to use the second to break evil covenants which are established. Nevertheless, this doesn't mean that anyone that is under a trial is doing something wrong but it might be because God allowed it to fulfill his will or may be because the devil is trying to hinder God's will in that persons' life. Jesus was persecuted even though He was always in the will of God. You can't be walking with God and not be working against the devil, so therefore there must be a friction but the good thing is that God will always deliver you and bring you into a season of stability. 2 Timothy 3:12 says “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution”.

You must also know that the blood of Jesus was not only active when Jesus Christ was crucified or relevant when we got born again but anytime a person sins, the blood is needed to cleanse. The good thing about the sacrifice of God is that instead of making sacrifices anytime we sin, we only need faith in his blood or total obedience to activate the power of his once and for all sacrifice. 1 John 1:7 says “if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” and 1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. So we see 1 John 1 identifying the two ways that sin can be forgiven by blood, which I also earlier said are the same two ways evil covenants can be broken.

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” - Ephesians 1:7

The blood of Jesus Christ doesn't only redeem us but also paves a way for the forgiveness of our sins forever (Ephesians 1:7) but what we need to do to activate the power of the blood is faith. It is faith in the blood that activates the remission of sin because many times when Christians make a mistake of sinning and ask God for forgiveness, they doubt most times that God has forgiven them. The day you got born again, your sins were forgiven by the blood because you believed, so when you ask for forgiveness in faith once you are in Christ, rejecting every voice that keeps bringing recurrent thoughts that God hasn't forgiven you because that is a lie of the devil to keep a person in condemnation. Romans 3:25 says “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God”. As long as we don't believe that God has forgiven us, we will not be able to access the blessing of God. Hebrews 10:19 says “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus”.

Even though God forgives us when we sin, we should not disrespect and play with the blood of Jesus Christ because anytime we sin the blood of Jesus is needed to cleanse it. Therefore a person who willingly keeps sinning is actually playing with the precious blood of Jesus. For example, a person that keeps playing football with an expensive suit, doesn't value it: sooner or later, that suit will soon fade away or tear. Imagine if the suit was able to be repaired and washed clean again but the person in quote still does the same thing, how would you feel towards such a person, especially when the suit belongs to you. Hebrews 10:26-27 says “if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries”.

When a man purposely sins after he has a revelation of the truth of God's Word, he is despising the work of Jesus Christ, his blood and the Holy Spirit, which sanctified him. Purposely sinning is when you deliberately go out of your way to commit a sin even when you know it is wrong; so this does not relate to someone that falls into sin. Therefore if under Moses' law judgment was executed immediately, how much more when a person despises the blood of Jesus and thus he has no sacrifice of sin. Hebrews 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace”?

Even though the new testament is based on the grace of God, God expects Christians to use his grace to resist sin at all cost and conform to his image but many have limited the grace of God to only the forgiveness of sin. Hebrews 12:4 says “Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin”.

This how much God wants to fight against sin because sin stains our sanctified spiritual garment which signifies the purity of a Christian. Jude 1:23 says “And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh”.

I believe you understand the importance and the sacredness of the blood of Christ by now, so that we do not despise it. Jesus himself said we should have remembrance of his shed blood by way of regularly taking the Holy Communion. 1 Corinthians 11:25 says “After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me”.

“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” - John 6:53

Jesus said except we drink His blood, we will neither partake of his life or abide in Him (John 6). Taking the communion is an important way of applying the blood of Jesus Christ in our life. For some it has been the source of their strength and for other it has brought great deliverance from sickness. The Holy Communion is one of the commandments God gave Christians to do in remembrance of his finished work till He comes the second time, which is so soon. Nevertheless many Christians don't practice taking the Holy Communion: there are different testimonies testifying of how covenants were broken and deliverance were effected by simply taking The Holy Communion and I believe it can happen to you, if you only do it in faith.

I believe so far your eyes has been opened to see the power in the blood of Jesus Christ. So let me now talk more about some of the benefits of the blood.

Benefits of the Blood
1. Protection
One great benefit of the blood is it brings protection to whatever it is on. A good example occurred on the last day that the Israelites were to leave Egypt: on that last night, they were commanded to mark their houses and possessions with the blood of an unblemished lamb, so that when the Lord visited the land of Egypt at night to take the life of the firstborn of every man and animal, he would pass over them and not harm anyone in that house because of the blood. There is a protective power in the blood of Jesus Christ against evil and that is why we have to learn to apply them in our lives, and from this example, we can see that the blood can also be applied to objects. Exodus 12:23 says “For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you”.

2. Cleansing
The blood was used in the Old Testament to cleanse the utensils in the earthly sanctuary and the flesh, and when Jesus rose as our High Priest He also took his blood to cleanse the utensils in the heavenly sanctuary (Hebrews 9:23). Sin is the major reason why a thing can be defiled but the blood of Jesus is the key to cleanse the stain of sin. Ezekiel 45:18 says “In the first month, in the first day of the month, thou shalt take a young bullock without blemish, and cleanse the sanctuary” and Leviticus 8:15 says “And he slew it; and Moses took the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured the blood at the bottom of the altar, and sanctified it, to make reconciliation upon it”.

Christians have limited the power of the blood of Jesus and thus can't see the manifestation of its full power; the blood of Jesus got sinners born again in the first place by cleansing them from all their sins, so why can't it forgive and cleanse anyone that is now born again. There is really no sin that the blood of Jesus Christ can not deal with except for that which Jesus talked about, the deliberate blaspheming against the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:31). If the blood of animals in the Old Testament was able to cleanse the flesh, how much more would the blood of Jesus Christ be able to cleanse our soul and body. If you understand this, you will know that we can by the blood be forgiven and thus will not fall into the condemnation of the devil: because some people feel that God has not forgiven them for their past sins even after asking for forgiveness. Why I am saying this, is because there are some people who are willing to stop the habit of a particular sin but find themselves under the bondage of it. We have gotten some emails sent to this ministry asking this question, “Will God forgive me because I am repeatedly sinning even when I am willing to stop it?” The answer is yes because of the blood of Jesus Christ but they must also understand that the reason why they can't stop sinning is most likely because of a spiritual influence which they have to cast out of their lives using the name and the blood of Jesus Christ, or having the revelation of the truth in that area (John 8:32). A good understanding about the blood of Jesus will always set people free from the condemnation of the devil, and from the power of sin and its consequences. Nevertheless, we have to learn how to apply the blood of Jesus. Hebrews 9:13-14 says “For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God”?

We had earlier talked about the one other major benefits of the blood as redemption. So I won't be talking about it here again. By now I believe we can see some of the benefits of the blood of Christ and why we should value it.

How to Apply the Blood
It is important for Christians to understand the relevance of the the blood of Christ in the new dispensation of grace because it is a major key to stay in victory over the devil and sin. Apparently many people have used the word of God alone as a weapon of war but Jesus didn't only overcome the devil for us on the cross by his word but also by his shed blood; for without the blood of Christ there is no gospel neither a New Testament for it was ratified by it. The only reason why many Christians don't enjoy the benefit of the blood of Jesus Christ is because they don't understand or have faith in it. Revelation 12:11 make us know that we have our deliverance through the Word of God, the blood of Christ and by walking in love (dying to self) but only a few people know this. Revelation 12:11 says “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death".

“And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD.” - Leviticus 17:6

There has been controversies in the body of Christ today over the application of the blood of Jesus Christ; some believe that the blood of Jesus should not be sprinkled in this new dispensation but as I said before, the Old Testament is only a shadow of the real deal. So therefore if the priest in the Old Testament sprinkled the blood of animals to sanctify doors, houses, people and other material things, then Christians in the New Testament should also be able to do the same. In the Old Testament, it was only the priest that was allowed to sprinkle the blood but in the New Testament, everyone that is born again is a priest because this is a generation of kings and priests; therefore any Christian can apply the blood of Christ. 1 Peter 2:9 says “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people”.

“the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court.” - Ezekiel 45:19

We as Christians have to learn to apply the blood of Christ not by taking physical blood to apply to a thing but by speaking. If the blood of Jesus Christ was only physical then it would not be enough to apply to all mankind because there are many people who have gotten born again since the death of Christ and they had the blood applied to them. The blood of Jesus Christ must be applied to a new convert for him to be born again. So if the blood of Christ was physical, then the blood of Jesus Christ would had finished by now or will be able to finish because an average human has only 5-6 litres of blood. Moreover Jesus applied his blood to the utensils in the heavenly sanctuary, which should tell us that the blood of Christ is also spiritual in nature because everything in heaven is spiritual (Hebrews 9:23): the scriptures says “that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption” (1 Corinthians 15:50).

You could simply say “I sprinkle the blood of Jesus Christ over this or that”, or you could say “by the blood of Jesus I nullify this or that”. The only other thing you have to add to your words is faith. Faith in the blood of Jesus is a vital key for applying it and getting results. With this, you can deliver yourself from the hands of the devil, even when he is claiming a hold over your life through a covenant. It is the devil's lie that deliverance is a hard process but I tell you deliverance is so easy once you understand the power of the blood of Jesus because Jesus Christ made old things pass away and all things new through his blood but we have to reinforce it (2 Corinthians 5:17).

“The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?” - 1 Corinthians 10:16

I earlier talked about the Communion as a way of applying the blood of Jesus Christ because the wine in the Holy Communion is a symbolism of the blood of Jesus. So when we drink the wine in communion, it is as if we are applying the blood of Christ on ourselves. The Jews at the time of Jesus were confused when Jesus said they should drink his blood; they thought that Jesus was literally talking about them drinking physical blood but Jesus was referring to The Holy Communion and the Word. Jesus Christ said “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day” and “He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him” (John 6:54 ,56). So when we take the Holy Communion, we are taking in eternal life and also abiding in Christ.

Conclusion
I believe we have a good understanding about the power of the blood of Jesus and how we can apply it even after we get born again.

If you are not born again, then you don't have the seal of the blood of Jesus on you as a mark of being a Child of God; thus you miss out of eternal life, which is the life of God, and also you don't have the protection that comes from the blood of Christ against evil, neither would you be able to apply the blood to anything to get results because you have to be a priest to apply blood in the Old and New Testament.

There are Some people who don't believe that the blood of Jesus Christ is needed for salvation or after but then you have to understand that sin cannot be forgiven without blood because the scriptures says without the shedding of blood there cannot be remission of sin (Hebrews 9:22). So you need the blood of Jesus Christ to be saved and after you are saved.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” - Romans 10:9

The blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse any sin if you accept the sacrifice of the blood of Jesus Christ, no matter what you have done. All you have to do is to believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again, and then confess it with mouth. If you want to do that today and have the blood of Jesus wash you from all your sins, then say the prayer below in faith.

Prayer for Salvation
Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you died and rose again for me. Forgive me my sins and wash me with your precious blood. I confess you as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you Father for doing this. In Jesus name, Amen.

If you said this prayer in faith, I believe you are born again. Write us on info@revelationtoend.org to share the good news and tell you more about what you should do after now. Some of the things you should do now that you are born again is to study the Word of God, pray daily and go to a bible believing Church (You should pray about this).
