The Order of God [ Listen | Forward Message via Email ]
God has made everything for a purpose and nothing He made was made without a reason, and these He did in an orderly manner. We see an orderliness in Creation, in times and seasons, and everything that pertain to creation.

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” - Genesis 1:3

God made the work of creation in six days not because He couldn't do it in a second, but He did this to show mankind the order in which He did His works. The first thing God made was light and the last thing He made was man; if God had made man first and light last, then man would have needed a candle to see and gills to breathe in water because there was no land till God said “Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear” (Genesis 1:9). So God had to get everything first ready for man to dwell in because God made everything on earth for mankind.

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” - Luke 14:28

Jesus Christ also taught about order. He was talking to His disciples in Luke 14 about serving Him, and He told them if anyone must follow Him, they have to do first things first, and He gave this example in verse 28, which says if anyone wants to build a house, he has to first estimate the cost before he begins. Jesus also told Nicodemus “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). What Jesus was saying to Nicodemus was that no matter your good works, you will not be able to enter into the kingdom of God except you first get born again. Many people have thought that if they work hard and are good according to their own standards, and do not practice sin, they will make it into the kingdom of God but God had to send an angel to tell Cornelius what to do to get him born again despite his good works. So no matter the good works a person does, he can not enter into the kingdom of God except he first gets born again. Lack of order in this case will only produce religious works, works that are done without faith and for vainglory.

Jesus Christ said in another example, that “whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock” (Matthew 7:24-25). Jesus was saying in this scripture that as a house will collapse by a storm because of a poor foundation, so will any Christian fall without a foundation of obedience to God. If any Christian must be strong to walk with God even in dangerous times, they need to build a foundation of obedience to God before a storm and not during a storm.

I will just quickly list some examples of God's orderliness in the bible:

1.You can't have access into the kingdom of God without first being born again – repenting and putting your faith in Jesus Christ. (John 3:3)
2.You can't enter into the kingdom of God, if you don't strive for it (Luke 13:24)
3.You can't be forgiven your sins, if you don't forgive others (Mark 11:25)
4.You can't correct others when you are in the same sin (Matthew 7:5)
5.You can't receive from God except you ask (Matthew 7:7)
6.You can not serve God without first denying yourself (Luke 9:23)
7.You can't walk in the spirit or renew your mind without first mortifying your flesh (Romans 8:13, Romans 12:1-2)
8.You can't love others without loving God first (1 John 4:19)
9.You can't walk in the wisdom of God without first fearing God (Psalms 111:10)
10.You can't enjoy the honour that comes from God without being humble ( Proverbs 15:33)
11.You cannot enjoy the blessing of God without putting God and His kingdom first (Matthew 6:33)
12.If you must be the greatest in the kingdom of God, you must be servant of all (Mark 9:35)
13.You can't be in Authority without being under authority; first to God and then to those God has put over you in authority (2 Corinthians 10:6)
14.You can't believe God without reading and hearing His word (Romans 10:14)
15.You can't enjoy financial prosperity without tithing and sowing (Galatians 6:7-8)

There are so many examples in scriptures that teach us about order in the bible, and we all sometimes practice being orderly in many of the basic things we do in life without really realizing this principle. For example, before a person can eat, the food needs to be cooked first, and before the food is cooked, food stuffs must be bought first. God has established the principle of order in life, so that first things are done first but many at times it is taken for granted.

“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” - Genesis 1:2

A lack of order always produces chaos as we see from what happened in the beginning. Isaiah 45:18 says “God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited”. So in the beginning God created and formed the heavens and the earth to be occupied by mankind but that same earth is said to be without form, void, and filled with darkness and water at a time (Genesis 1:2) , which is not consistent with the character of God, and contradictory in the sense that Isaiah 45:18 said God formed the earth but it was later said to be without form. When a car manufacturer wants to design a new car, he always starts with a model that has a form, therefore something must have happened for the earth that was formed to have no form.

The word “form” from the Webster's dictionary means “The shape or external appearance of a body” and “void” means “Empty; vacant; not occupied with any visible matter”. Ask yourself this question, Can God create something without a shape or that is empty or full of darkness?”

“I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger. For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.” - Jeremiah 4:23-27

For us to understand why the earth was without form, void and full of darkness, let us see what Jeremiah 4:23-27 says. It says that the earth once had man, birds, plants, hills before in it but the fierce anger of God's judgment was brought upon the whole earth which left it void, without form and in darkness. There has never been a time that there was no man on earth after the creation of Adam till this day, so when could this have happened? This event happened between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 due to the rebellion of Satan in heaven who also corrupted the creatures on earth at that time during this time period, and he also deceived one-third of the angels (Revelation 12:3-4). It was during this period the dinosaurs, whose fossils we see today as a proof of their existence, lived and not during the creation of Adam.

“The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.” - Proverbs 15:24

Satan and his angels were also cast to hell, which the scriptures says is below the earth crust (Proverbs 15:24), to await the final judgment day; and that was why Satan was on earth with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1): Satan must have broken his boundary in hell, possessed a serpent to come into the Garden of Eden to tempt Adam and Eve, in order to gain their territory.

This brought a lack of order and chaos: Satan's desire to rule the universe and displace God from being God, brought into existence disorder. When man was tempted by Satan to rebel against God and to give up his authority to Satan, it brought into existence the second chaos upon the earth and all creation: the rebellion of man brought his spiritual death - separation from God, and a curse on the earth which we experience today as earthquakes, famines, volcanic eruptions, tornadoes, etc.

“Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.” - Proverbs 17:24

If your life is out of order, then you must know that there is a root cause; all you really need to do is seek to discover the root cause and apply God's wisdom with patience to deal with it because most times people just go in circles having the same problem over and over again thinking it is normal and thus remain stuck in one place – physically and spiritually; they look everywhere but not for the root cause of their problem, thus no matter what they do they never get results. This has left many to settle down and accept their problem but you must know that no matter the problem you have, there is always a solution with God. Proverbs 17:24 tells us that a man that has understanding applies it to the root cause of his problem without looking far but a fool looks over his problem for solution for something else but not for the root cause of his problem first. For example, you can never stop sin without first becoming born again because a man that is not born again has the nature of sin in his DNA, so no matter what he does to stop sinning, he will only be able to cover up the problem and not solve it; but it will one day surface again. In society today, once a person has a headache he immediately tries to take a paracetamol but many at times headache is just a sign that there is a problem somewhere, so trying to treat the headache is only suppressing the pain of the problem and not dealing with the root cause of the headache. Even though pain doesn't always mean you are doing the wrong thing, pain mostly is a sign that something is out of order. The disease called Cancer results from human cells rebelling against each other and thus causing pain, So also whenever you are in pain in your relationship, health, finance, mind, etc, there is certainly something out of order somewhere; so stop, think and seek to know what it is rather than just trying to treat the symptoms.

“Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.” - Matthew 12:29

Jesus said except the strong man occupying a house is first dealt with, one cannot spoil his goods, or rather a problem's root cause is to be dealt with before the symptoms can clear off.(Matthew 12:29). Even though many problems in humanity are caused by evil spirits, there is always something you must do first to solve any problem, in which if it is not placed in the right order it produces chaos but order always produces peace. Therefore, another sign of lack of order is a lack of peace. Proverbs 16:7 says “When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him”. When your steps are rightly ordered in the will of God, no matter what is happening around, you will have the peace of God working from within you, and at the end of the day all things will work together for your good (Romans 8:28).

If you are faced with so many problems at the same time, don't just try solving them all at once because you will only end up solving none. People who try to solve several problems at once get confused on even starting any. So it is best to place them in order of importance and tackle them individually till you are able to resolve them all no matter how many they are; and don't jump to another until you have finished with one, especially when you know the other will totally prevent or slow you down from finishing another.

Sometimes things people call problems are self-induced while others are just a waste of time because they are not humanly resolvable. Moreover you must know that without God, nothing will really work out no matter how hard you try, it is only for us do our own part and let God complete it. Psalms 127:1 says “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain”.

In reality, order is a product of God's wisdom because wisdom is able to discern and apply the right knowledge in any situation, which is the same as doing the first things first, and that is why we need God to order our life and not by ourselves because “I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23).

Many people have led themselves and have gone far away from the order of God for their life because it is only God that knows and can take us to the end He has prepared for us. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”; but no matter how far anyone has gone out of God's order for his life, God's wisdom can re-align him back on track, and redeem all lost times. An instruction of wisdom from God is a step back on track but we can only get God's wisdom, if we first ask Him for it or seek it through His word. James 1:5 says “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him”. So instead of trying to solve your problem by your own wisdom, prayerfully ask God for wisdom concerning your problem, and He will give you, if you ask in faith. If you don't ask in faith, then you will never get a response from God because the order of God concerning receiving from Him is first to believe He will give you before you even ask (James 1:6-7).

When we ask God for wisdom, He gives us an instruction which re-orders our mind, so that we can focus in the right direction. There can never be order without the re-ordering of the mind. Romans 12:2 says “be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2). So the renewing of our mind to the wisdom of God is the first thing that must happen for order to beginning.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” - Hebrews 12:1

Christians are in a race that needs to be ordered God's way for them to win but one major requirement in this race is patience. Lack of patience has caused many people to fall out of God's order for their lives. Hebrews 10:36 says “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise”. Patience is a fruit of the spirit which produces endurance to stand for the truth for as long as it is required to get to the next step in the order of God even in the midst of opposition, but many Christians lack patience which makes many change their order before they receive their promise: you never know the day of your promise that is why you just have to be patient, knowing that it will surely come one day. In truth, you can't say you have faith and not have patience because faith claims that it already has what he asked for while hope claims it will receive a promise but once you don't believe you don't have what you asked for, you will certainly be impatient about it.

“These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.” - Genesis 37:2

Joseph had a dream when he was seventeen years of age but had to wait thirteen more years through several trials to obtain it. So, in other to stay in the order of God, you have to be patient till you know the next step to take because “there is a time ... for every purpose and for every work” (Ecclesiastes 3:17).

So far in this message, we have seen that order is very important for Christians to live a peaceful, stable and fulfilling life, while a lack of order always produces chaos. God designed the principle of order for man in a realm of time, to resolve problems and organize himself as He illustrated this principle by creating everything in the earth in an orderly fashion for six days, which He could very well have made with a single word.

The Order of the Church
God that created the heavens created it with an hierarchy of authority to establish order in heaven.

“And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.” - Revelation 4:4

The bible talks about 24 elders who have golden crowns and sit on thrones around the throne of God – these beings have more authority than angels, and even among the angels the bible makes mention of archangels, which are chief angels with greater authority than other angels (Jude 1:9).

God also created the earth with an hierarchy of authority which He has given to men in order to establish order on earth but when man disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, man gave his authority to the devil but Jesus Christ collected back that authority by His death and resurrection and re-established that hierarchy of authority in the Church.

“For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:” - Romans 12:4

Even though the Church is called a unit known as the body of Christ, it is made up of several members which can only be kept in that unity by the principle of order.

“And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.” - 1 Corinthians 12:28

So when Jesus set up the Church, He put some men in authority to establish order. 1 Corinthians 12:28 says the first of these authorities are the apostles, then the prophets, then teachers, etc. So if the Church must be orderly at these end times, these authorities must take their place in the body and not just assuming that unity will work out itself without them striving for the unity of the body. Ephesians 4:3 says “Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”. So unity is something that is produced when peace is established amongst the body of Christ, and it is something that those in authority must work hard to establish because the Church has been turned to a competitive ground where every man seek their own glory and not the things of others, then how can there be order: one minister going north and the other going south. Unity can be first sought for in the body when the authorities in the Church seek the things of Christ, whether it be in their own ministry or not.

“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” - Hebrews 5:12

Even though many Christians don't agree on certain issues of the scriptures, authorities in the Church should use the first principles of the doctrines of Christ as a point for unity. These principles are “repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment” (Hebrews 6:1-2).

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.” - Romans 16:17

Nevertheless, there are false authorities or authorities that are out of the will of God which others must separate themselves from: these are authorities who try to divide the body of Christ by preaching doctrines that are against the doctrines of Christ.

“For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:” - Titus 1:5

Even though authorities are elected by God, authorities in the Church can elect sub-authorities to handle other smaller matters because no one can function properly as a single unit, as a single cell of man can not function on its own. Imagine that it is only one cell in your body that is handling respiration, digestion and so on: it is certain that it's life span will be so short and it will not function properly. Paul chose Titus to over see the order of the church in Crete because he cant be at two places at the same time.

When we are choosing someone as a sub-authority, we must do first things first and that is to look into somethings that Paul said we should check in a person first. For example Paul said “A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;” (1 Timothy 3:2-4)

“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” - Ephesians 5:21

For others that are not in authorities in the Church, they have to learn to humbly submit themselves to each other to promote order in the body of Christ.

“For Adam was first formed, then Eve.” - 1 Timothy 2:13

The first and smallest institution of the body of Christ is the family, in which Christ has put the man as the head, then the woman. Once there is no order in the family, it produces chaos which reverberates to the body. That is why the family is a great target of the devil to destabilize the Church. That is why Paul said a man that can't rule his family should not be given authority in the church.

So everything in the Church must be done in order as 1 Corinthians 14:40 says “Let all things be done decently and in order”. Even the use of spiritual gifts should be used in an orderly manner. “If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace” (1 Corinthians 14:30). Heaven is a place of strict order and the Church is a representation of heaven on earth and should also be orderly.

“And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.” - 2 Corinthians 8:5

No matter what authority we find ourselves under, we must first give ourselves to God before that authority (2 Corinthians 8:5) because the highest authority should always be obeyed between two authorities and Jesus is that highest authority. The bible is the direct instruction of God, so the bible should be the first point of reference to seek order in any situation.

Conclusion
We have talked a little about order and we now know that we have to learn to put first things first in our lives to live a peaceful life because lack of order always produce chaos. Other times people try to treat the symptoms of a problem and not the problem, which will never bring the desired effect until principle of order is implemented.

We also talked about the order of the Church which God set up by putting men in authorities to keep this order for the promotion of peace and unity but it seems there is disorder in the body of Christ because these authorities are lagging behind in their duties. It is time for them to wake up and strive for the unity of the body.

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” - John 3:3

Now for anyone to be a part of the body of Christ and to receive eternal life, he first must be born again: without this happening first no one can have access to anything that God has made available for him through Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:3 says “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” - Romans 10:9

The first step to be born again is to believe that Jesus Christ died and rose again, and then confess this with your mouth by saying it out according to Romans 10:9, and a miracle happens to you as God changes you to be His child. So say the prayer below if you want to be born again right now:

Prayer for Salvation
Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you died and rose again for me. Forgive me my sins and wash me with your precious blood. I confess you as my Lord and Saviour. Help me stop every sin in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.

If you said that prayer, I believe you are now born again. Please write us and we will be glad to tell you more about the your new life and the next step to take. Meanwhile, you can read your bible and pray, also prayerfully join a bible believing Church.

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” -
Revelation 2:4-5

Many people get born again, burn for the will of God for a while but later slip into a lukewarm mode but as Jesus told one of the seven Church, look at what has caused this to happen – because for some people they became lukewarm when they started walking with a bad company, for some when they got a new job, some when they got into school. So look at the cause of your backslidden state and prayerfully take a wise step to overcome or repent from it. Remember God is coming very soon, so it is time for Christians to awake from their spiritual slumber. The bible says there will be a great apostasy before the coming of Christ which is presently happening and in coming days it will be so hard to stand as a Christian. These are the best times to build up your self as a Christian. 2 Thessalonians 2:3 says “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”.
