REVEALING GOD DEVOTIONAL – TO BE GREAT
Bless God for another glorious day to be alive! Today, I want to speak on Greatness, because I believe there is a deposit of greatness in every Christian. Scripture says: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
Greatness is a gift deposited in every believer. So stop looking down on yourself, and don’t be overwhelmed by life’s challenges. Those challenges only attempt to belittle and choke the greatness within you. But that potential cannot be caged—the world is waiting for you to manifest it. As the Word declares: “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God” (Romans 8:19). You were born more than a conqueror over life’s trials, and true greatness is revealed by the obstacles you overcome (Romans 8:37).
Yet being born great does not automatically mean you will live great. Greatness is also a choice. Being born great gives you capacity, but becoming great requires responsibility. Jesus said: “Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them” (Matthew 20:25).
There is a vast difference between worldly greatness and godly greatness. The world measures greatness by wealth and influence, but godly greatness is defined by how many lives you positively impact, how many people you lead and serve toward fulfilling destiny. Godly greatness is rooted in sacrifice. The degree of sacrifice you are willing to make for Christ and for others determines your greatness both in this life and in eternity. Consider Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, and the apostles—they became great because they gave themselves as sacrifices for a just cause. Modern examples like Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King Jr. show us that true greatness comes from what you give to make the world better, not what you take from it.
The choice is yours. You can be great, but you cannot do it without God’s help. Let Him lead you by His Spirit, and He will bring you into greatness. Scripture assures us: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11).

The First Step to Godly Greatness
The journey begins with being born again. You can take that step today by praying this simple prayer in faith, believing that Jesus Christ died and rose again for your sins:
Prayer for Salvation
Dear Lord, I believe Jesus died and rose again for me. Forgive me my sins and come into my life. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You, Father, for saving me. Reveal Yourself to me today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
