REVEALING GOD DEVOTIONAL - SPEAKING TO GROW UP

Bless God for another wonderful day to share a thought with you. Today let us discuss how our words can impact our spiritual growth.

When a child starts talking like a mature man, it will certainly baffle you. Jesus at age twelve was mistakenly left behind by His parents. After they had gone a day’s journey, they found out that He was not with them, so they returned to find Him. When they found Him, they saw Him at the temple sitting in the midst of the teachers of the law, asking them questions and answering their questions — things only a well-educated person in the scriptures could know. The teachers were astonished. The scripture says, “And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers” (Luke 2:47).

There is a way a child talks, and there is a way that adults talk. A child will ask stupid questions and will lack understanding in many things. The scripture says, “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things” (1 Corinthians 13:11).

Many people who are born again still curse, lie, backbite, gossip, and say foul words without any guilt. But that is just an indication that they are still baby Christians. Becoming born again does not automatically stop you from misusing your tongue — you have to grow out of it. A Christian can remain a baby Christian all his life if they don’t deliberately choose to grow up. Paul wrote to some Jewish Christians that when they should be mature and teaching others, they themselves were still baby Christians needing elementary teaching (Hebrews 5:12-14).

One way to quickly grow up as a Christian is to start learning to speak the truth in love. In Christianity, growing up is a compulsory choice. The scripture says, “But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ” (Ephesians 4:15).

So I encourage you to watch your words and you will see how fast you will grow up as a Christian. Have a blessed day!

Nevertheless, if you are not born again you can do so today by saying this simple prayer below out with your mouth in faith, believing that Jesus Christ died and rose again for your sins.

Prayer for Salvation

Dear Lord, I believe Jesus died and rose again for me. Forgive me my sins and come into my life. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you Father for doing this for me. Reveal yourself to me today. In Jesus name, Amen.

Congrats, your status has changed to that of a child of God, if you said this prayer in faith.
