THE LIGHT OF LIFE - 2
Praise God for another wonderful day to share a thought with you Today, we will continue our discussion on the importance of light. We said light is a very important thing to mankind because without it, life will be totally out of balance. Likewise, as Christians, we are illuminated with the life of God to see the world differently when we get Born Again (John 1:4).
We have to know that even though we are born again, we can still be walking in darkness. There are many people who are walking in darkness in the world today and don’t even know it. If the devil wants to overcome a Christian, the first thing he does is to try to keep them in darkness, which indirectly keeps them blind from seeing what he is doing. The devil is a defeated foe to a Christian, but as long as he can keep their mind in darkness, he will still be able to overcome them. The devil achieves this by keeping Christians ignorant, or by using distraction to extinguish the light of God in them through lukewarmness. The scripture says those “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” (2 Corinthians 4:4).
Satan cannot quench the light in a Christian without their cooperation. And he does this by trying to subtly blind them from seeing the truth in order to derail them. That is why he needed the cooperation of Eve to derail her and Adam from God’s divine purpose. Once this happens, it starts to let a Christian wander farther and farther from his source of light — Jesus (John 8:12) — until Satan sees the right occasion to totally quench God’s light in that Christian. It is the light we possess as a Christian that gives us advantage of the power of darkness in this evil world.
For example, when the intensity of a fire is much, any insect that comes close to it will be consumed if it dares. But if that fire starts to cool down, then it can be easily extinguished. Light and darkness have no business together because right from the beginning God made an absolute separation of light from darkness (Genesis 1:4). Darkness only plays around light when that light is not strong. The scripture says, “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not” (John 1:5).
Moreover, snakes and scorpions don’t go around freely; they try to hide under dark sheds, and it will take light to reveal them. Likewise, devils thrive in the lives of Christians by hiding in their blind spots. The scripture says, “But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light” (Ephesians 5:13).
We will continue on this thought tomorrow. However, the first step of having God’s light is to be Born Again. If you are not born again, you can do so right now by asking Jesus in a simple prayer to come into your life to be your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9). So say the prayer below in faith to do so right now.
Prayer for Salvation
Dear Lord, I believe Jesus died and rose again for me. Forgive me my sins and come into my life. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Wash me with your precious blood. Thank you Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
