PURE IN HEART

Introduction

Praise God for another day to share a thought with you. Today, we will be talking on a pure heart. In life, everyone loves to eat food or drink water that is free from impurity. In fact, it is the nature of people to easily get attracted to whatever is clean — a clean house, a clean car, or even a clean spouse. This is just the natural state of mankind. Now if a natural person with their impure mind loves and desires such, how much more God, who is the creator of purity. The scriptures describe Heaven as having everything in it pure — pure gold streets, pure clothes, pure river, etc. (Revelation 21:18, 21; 22:1). It is this same reason God incorporated cleanliness into Old Testament laws and ordinances for the sake of maintaining purity in Israel pending the coming of Jesus Christ.

This is why what God desires most from our born-again experience is not any material thing like money or a car, or just working for Him, but a pure heart which will naturally birth good works.

All Things Created Pure

When God creates anything, He creates it pure, which means it is free from corruption. But one thing God gave humans and the angels when He created them was a free will to decide to continue on that trend by following His instructions or otherwise. That is why Satan, who was created in perfection with great beauty and glory, could choose the path that defiled his pure nature. Thus he corrupted and brought death on himself, because his heart was lifted up with the pride because of the glory and beauty God gave him (Ezekiel 28:13-15).

After corrupting himself, he decided to corrupt everything that God created. And indeed after corrupting a third of the angels in heaven (Revelation 12), he set out to do the same to mankind, which he managed to do through deception and manipulation (Genesis 3). Nevertheless, God being merciful, sent His only begotten Son to atone for man’s sin. This set into motion a process by which mankind could be totally purified, as the scripture says Jesus “gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” (Titus 2:14).

Now we know that our purification as a Christian is very important. We have our part to play in achieving it, and I will continue in this line of thought tomorrow. The process of purification starts when a person gets born again. Have a blessed day!
