PURE IN HEART – 6

Purification by Faith

Praise God for another wonderful day to share a thought with you. Today, we will continue talking about purify of the heart, which actually is the hallmark of Holiness.

As I discussed prior to today’s devotional, getting born again is the first step of a journey to holiness, and is a process done totally by faith. However, we will still need faith to keep the process of purification in progress.

In other words, when we remove faith from Christianity, our actions which might not look sinful can become sinful and defile us. For example, many Christians will not normally eat food that they know was sacrificed to an idol because they believe it is defiled, but if in faith they pray to sanctify it and believe that same food will not hurt them, then it will not. So really what may be harmful to a normal person will not be to a person that is standing on God’s Word by faith.

However, if such a person does not really believe, even though they are a Christian, that same food can defile them. This is why faith is the foundation of Christianity. It is the lack of understanding the process of faith that has birth the invention of many doctrines that have brought division into the body of Christ. The scripture says, “For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin” (Romans 14:23). So let us work on our faith by studying God’s Word today.

The first step of purification is to be born again, because being born again replaces our spirit man and prepares it for the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, who will help us in the sanctification of our soul and body. Therefore if you are not born again, I would advise that you should do so today because it is very easy to do. Jesus has done the hard part of it all by giving His life as a sacrifice for our sins, so all you need to do is believe in His finished work and ask Him for the gifts that comes along with it, which is the gift of eternal life. You can say the prayer for salvation right in faith.

Prayer for Salvation

Dear Lord, I believe Jesus died and rose again for me. Forgive me my sins and come into my life. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you Father for doing this for me. Reveal yourself to me today. In Jesus name, Amen.

Congrats, your status has changed to that of a child of God, if you said this prayer in faith.
