TRUE CHRISTIANITY

Introduction

Praise God for another day to share a thought with you. In the world today, many people call themselves Christians because they were born into a Christian family, go to Church, do good works, and/or merely believe in Jesus Christ. However, it might surprise you that all the above do not automatically mean you are a true Christian. Even getting baptized in water alone has been misunderstood to mean being a Christian in this generation because of a lack of understanding of the Word of God. I have talked with many people that say they were Christians because of one or more of the above scenarios but only found out they were not after a brief discussion.

I don’t want you to get too surprised about what I have just said, but just carefully read on to see my point. In the scripture, believers in Christ were first called Christians at Antioch. The word “Christian” means Christ-like, and believers were called this name when the people saw that they behaved like Jesus Christ (Acts 11:26).

Christianity is not what people claim by mere words; true Christianity is a lifestyle that is seen by others as aligning with the character of Christ through Faith. Recall that Jesus Christ said, “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7:20).

However, what is the Character of Christ? The character of Christ is simply a Character of love. If we must truly be called Christians, we must love others, so shall we be called disciples of Christ. Even, most unbelievers expect people that call themselves Christians to show love; and when they see otherwise, they see it as unchristian conduct. Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35).

However, the seed of being a true Christian is given to a person when they believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour and also confess Him as such in a prayer of faith. Many people believe in Jesus but have never confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour in a prayer of faith. If you have never said a prayer asking Jesus Christ to come into your life as your Lord and Saviour, then you cannot have the seed of God in you to become a true Christian and that is why there is a struggle to live and love like Christ. You cannot give what you do not have. The scripture says, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” (Romans 8:9).

So, we have to first understand that being Born Again is not just an outward show of activities but an internal change of your spirit man to be that of Christ. That is the seed of Christ that every true Christian receives. So, if you believe Jesus died to forgive your sins and rose from the dead after three (3) days to make available the gift of a new life, which is termed Born Again or meaning born of God’s Spirit (John 3:3-6), then what you need to do is to ask for this gift of eternal life in faith. Then you will have the ability to stop sinning and love like Jesus Christ.

Many people have not given their life to Jesus Christ and therefore, do not have the gift of eternal life probably because no one has told them the whole truth. The Scripture says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9).

In other words, you cannot work to be Born again, you only have to believe and receive it through a prayer of faith. Then afterward use that gift life to grow up to become like Christ. Therefore, a true Christian is not someone that just merely confesses Jesus Christ, but a person that believes in Jesus Christ, is genuinely Born Again through a prayer of faith, and lives a repented life that loves others through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Of today’s generation of Christians, how many people can we really identify as Christians by their character and not just because they said so? And when I say character, I mean a character of faithfulness and love. Sadly, the Christian’s character is not seen manifesting in the life of many Christians because of the kind of gospel currently being preached in many quarters of the Church, which is the foundational cause for a lot of the challenges going on within the body of Christ. If we must permanently resolve a problem, we must deal with it at its root. The problem of the Church cannot change until when the ministers of the gospel start preaching the whole truth in Godly love without recourse to please people or themselves. The scripture says, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalms 11:3). That foundation is the whole truth.

How to Become a Christian

Of all of God’s creations, mankind is the only one God created in His image and likeness because God wanted to have a relationship with them (Genesis 1:26-28). Animals and plants were created in a different league and cannot relate with God unlike the privilege given to mankind. Mankind was made a unique being such that they had a spirit that was able to interact with God, while at the same time, they lived in a body that allowed them to interact with the earthly world. However, mankind fell to sin and lost their spiritual nature, leaving them only with their carnal nature that was not pleasing or obedient to God. God had to admit that He could not have a proper relationship with mankind anymore because they had become just flesh. The scripture says, “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” (Genesis 6:3).

God had to introduce His plan for the restoration of mankind through His son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ coming into the world as flesh after about 4000 years after the fall of man to sin brought a permanent solution to the sinful nature of man through the restoration of their spirit man by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, while they could now also enjoy perpetual forgiveness of their past, present and future sins through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross and asking for forgiveness. This is what the laws of Commandment could not do because the law is spiritual (Romans 7:14), and so is sin also a spiritual disease that kills mankind and renders them to be mere flesh. So, how can a man in the flesh carry out the law of God which are spiritual effectively? Furthermore, the law though spiritual, could not restore back the spiritual nature of mankind. Therefore, the problem of mankind, being spiritual, needed a spiritual solution that could only be provided through Jesus Christ. The scripture says, “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:” (Romans 8:3)

Now becoming Christian is the simplest part because Jesus Christ already paved the way for the whole world to get saved through His sacrifice on the cross. It is being a disciple and remaining a true Christian that is the hardest part. The scripture says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).

So, you can get Born Again right now to receive the gift of eternal life, which lets you have a new spirit that will allow you fellowship with God properly, give you the ability to live above sin, and give you a passport to be part of the Kingdom of God. All you have to do is say the prayer below out loud in faith and receive this free gift of eternal life.

Prayer of Salvation:
Dear Lord, I Jesus believe died and rose again for me. Forgive me my sins, and come into my life. I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Personal Saviour. Thank you for washing my sins with your precious blood and giving me the gift of eternal life. In the name of JESUS, I pray. Amen.
If you said this prayer in faith, then I believe you are Born Again. Just keep thanking God for you are now a Child of God.

However, now that you are Born Again, you must continue following Jesus Christ by first building a relationship with Him through prayer and study of His Word, and then faithfully obeying the instruction of His words to ensure you remain free from the devil’s traps and retain your citizenship of God’s Kingdom.

The Different Laws
A law is a set of rules that have been set or proven over time to have a positive consequence any time they are kept but a negative consequence if they are broken. They are created to set boundaries and rules or guidelines for order in any system. There are three spiritual laws and two natural laws that operate on this earth, but only one really matters above all others to every Christian, which is the only one that actually saves their soul. When we discuss these laws in detail, we will know which of these laws can actually save.

The three spiritual laws that exist on Earth are;
1. The Law of Sin and Death
2. The Law of Commandments and Ordinances
3. The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus
And two natural laws are;
1. The Law of Nature
2. The Law of Traditions of Men

Details of Natural Laws
1. The Law of Nature
When God created the earth, He first set up laws to govern how it should function while it existed. These laws were created to set boundaries, times, and seasons, and define reproduction (Seed-Time and Harvest). For example, when God said, “Let there be light” and separated the light and the darkness (Genesis 1:3-4), He set the laws of light, so that wherever light exists darkness gives way; when God created day and night, the sun, the moon and the stars, He set the laws of Times and Seasons (Genesis 1:5,14); when He said the plants, animals, and humans should bring forth fruit of their own kind, He set up the laws of Reproduction (Genesis 1:11-28). Many other laws God set up during creation which mankind has been discovering over the years, and has made them understand how the world functions better, and know that as long as they keep the natural laws, they were in peace with nature.

2. The Law of Traditions of Men
For the short period of time that man has lived on the earth, different groups have formed unique customs, which brought distinctive and set boundaries amongst their colony. Many of these customs have been handed down from one generation to another in different societies. In some societies, these traditions form part of the general law that governs that society or nation. These kinds of laws are the traditions of men. Sadly, in some societies, these laws are so strong that they resist any form of new religion, while in some cases their religion is part of the law of the Traditions of men. In the time of Jesus Christ, the Pharisees had absorbed many traditions and allowed them to override even the commandment of God. There was a time Jesus had to say to the Pharisees, “Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.” (Matthew 15:3-6).
In the Church today, there are many traditions handed over from one generation of that Church to another that have also become stumbling blocks to the growth and unity of the body of Christ. The Church must understand that any custom that they practice that is not in line with the gospel of Jesus Christ, should not be allowed to be a subject of division of the body of Christ. It should not be imposed on other Christians and it should not form a criteria for salvation.

Details of Spiritual Laws
We must understand that spiritual laws supercede natural laws and will at any time override a natural law whenever they are activated simultaneously. For example, there are many times Jesus overrode natural laws with spiritual laws. There was a time Jesus walked on water, which was not possible in the natural law of Buoyancy discovered by Archimedes. A miracle occurs on the earth when natural laws are suspended by spiritual laws.

1. The Law of Sin and Death
So when we are talking about the Law of Sin and Death, we know that this is a spiritual law that was introduced into the earth when Adam and Eve disobeyed God (Genesis 3). The scripture says, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12)

Any sin is actually disobedience to God’s commandments, and its byproduct always ends up in death. That is why the scripture says, “For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23). In order words, sin might seem pleasurable to the flesh for a moment but its end will always pay you with one form of death, which can be physical, or spiritual, or both.

Many people wonder why Adam and Eve did not die the same day even when God said, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” (Genesis 2:17). Indeed, Adam and Eve died the very day they disobeyed God but what first died was their spirit man, and this death only manifested in the flesh many years later. However, the effect of their sin was immediate as mankind came under a curse, and lost their relationship with God. Therefore, people who might be living in sin might think they are getting away with it but do not realize that what they are doing is actually causing negative effects in the spirit which will later manifest in their life or that of their generation after them. Therefore, sin must not be taken lightly for because of it Jesus came into the world to die. The scripture says, “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.” (1 John 3:5).

2. The Law of Commandments and Ordinances
The laws of the Commandments, which are known as the Ten Commandments, are spiritual laws given by God to the Israelites in the wilderness just after they left Egypt (Exodus 20). The first five commandments instructed mankind how to love God, their Heavenly Father, and their earthly parent; and the other five instructed mankind how to love each other. In Old Testament, mankind had fallen to sin and did not have the spiritual nature to be able to keep these commandments (Romans 7:14). Therefore, mankind could not keep the commandments of God, nor could the keeping of the laws resolve the problem of a spiritually dead man. The only thing the law could then do was to show mankind that they had a sin problem. The scripture says, “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” (Romans 3:20).

Moreover, what God wants more than anything from mankind is a relationship, but in trying to keep the law of commandments and ordinances, mankind lost focus on God. So, in trying to reach God, who is Holy, they served the law rather than worshiping God from natural Holiness.

The only solution was to first restore mankind’s spiritual nature so that they could once again have the ability to obey God’s commandments without struggle and easily have a relationship with God. However, before this was done, God created a way for mankind to worship Him through the establishment of an earthly Temple, which had ordinances. Ordinances are laws established for the purpose of order and celebration on the earth.

However, after the resurrection of Jesus from the dead and the establishment of the new order of worship in God’s original temple in Heaven, there was a doing away with the ordinances of the Old Testament temple worship. The scripture says, Jesus “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;” (Colossians 2:14).

Now, wherever we gather, even in the Church, we are not gathering in just a building but we are having a heavenly gathering with a heavenly host (God the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, saints in Heaven, and angels. We might not see them but that is what it is according to the scriptures (Hebrews 12:24-28).

Therefore, with the changing of the mode of worship, there are new ordinances that help to keep order in the body of Christ and celebrate what Jesus Christ has done. However, these ordinances are not created to save the soul but bring order. For example, water baptism is an ordinance in the New Testament. It does not save a person from their sin but doing it is a religious ceremony that displays what Jesus Christ has done. If baptism was needed for salvation, the Old Testament believers would have needed to come back in the flesh to do it, which was not possible. Moreover, one of the thieves on the cross died and went to be with Jesus in Paradise without water baptism (Luke 26). Therefore, the Church must understand the place of the ordinance and should not let it overshadow the commandments of God in this dispensation.

Communion is also another ordinance that has its spiritual benefit and shows what Jesus had done on the Cross but does not save a person from their sin. The only thing that saves someone from their sin is believing and confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9). So, the Church must not replace Salvation through Jesus Christ with any other thing.

Moreover, the Church must understand that the Old Testament ordinances have been done away with in Christ and should have no place in the Church, nor should they become doctrines that bring division to the body of Christ. The Church has long been divided due to the incorporation of the Old Testament Ordinances as commandments in the New Testament Church, but it is time to be united as a body because the coming of Jesus Christ is so soon, and it requires a united Church to prepare a way for the soon return of the Lord.

3. The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus
The only law that delivers and preserves a Christian in the path of life is the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus because it makes mankind live from a point of advantage through the new spirit received at the point of getting Born Again. This spirit has a righteous nature because it has the laws of God within it and in fact, is a spirit of Christ (Romans 8:9). Therefore, living by our spirit through the leading of the Holy Spirit makes a Christian fulfill the righteousness of the law. The Scripture says, “But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.” (Galatians 5:18).

We know mankind was a spirit being that has a soul that lives in a body, but because the spirit of mankind died due to sin, the soul, which is the central command for decision making had no other option but to live by the dictates of the flesh. So, trying to keep the laws of God in the flesh to perfection was never possible because of the weakness of the flesh. However, when a person gets Born Again, they have their spirit restored, and now have the option to choose between living by the deeds of the flesh or by the leading of the spirit; and when a person chose to live by their spirit, they overcome sin and death without struggling to keep the commandments of God. The Scripture says, “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:3-4).

Therefore, in this dispensation of grace, the most valuable asset and companion of any Christian is the Holy Spirit. It is He who teaches, strengthens, protects, and guides us on how to live Christianity and fulfill destiny. Therefore, as a Christian, get to understand the Holy Spirit as a person, and build a relationship with Him, because He is the God with Christians. He leads us through our spirit, that is why we need to be born again first, and choose to focus on the things of the spirit more than the things of flesh by thinking more on spiritual things i.e. the Word of God (Romans 8:6). The Scripture says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” (Romans 8:14).

Pray using Luke 11:13 to receive the gift if the Holy Spirit. It is important you do this so that you are not limited as a Christian.

What Jesus Delivered Us from?
As Christians, God has delivered us from all the works of Satan and has given us all we need in this life to fulfill our purpose and make eternity. The Scripture says, “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” (Colossians 1:13-14).

However, many Christians are still suffering under what God has delivered them from, and lacking what God has already provided for them through Christ. The question is Why? This is because they lack the knowledge of what they have and what to do to get it, but answer is right in the Word of God. However, Satan wants people to be kept in ignorance so that they don’t know and thereby he can keep taking advantage of them. The Scripture says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” (2 Peter 1:3-4).

Therefore, as a Christian, the first thing to do daily and regularly is to read and meditate on the Word of God to grow and know all you have through Christ Jesus. The Scripture says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” (1 Peter 2:2).

Here are some of the things God has delivered Christians from when they get Born Again;
1. From the Sin and Death
Sin brings death and allows the devil to steal from Christians as we see in the life of Adam and Eve. Every Christian can stop sin as long as they are Born Again. What they just need to do is to study and use the Word of God to attack any area of weakness. The more they read the bible, the more they grow out of that sin and have the strength to say NO. The Scripture says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14).

2. From Serving the Law of Commandments and Ordinances
I have already explained this before under the Law of Commandments and Ordinances. In trying to keep the Laws, many loss focus on God and therefore, are not able to have a proper relationship with God. However, when a Christians is Born Again, they only need to live by their spirit through the leading of the Holy Spirit and still enjoy a relationship with God. The Scripture says, “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;” (Colossians 2:14).

3. From the Curse of the Law
Curses are spiritual laws that cause repeated afflictions to a person that gets them through sin or a negative spoken word. However, through Jesus Christ, we overcome all curses and live under a blessing as long as we keep believing and walking with Jesus Christ through the leading of the Holy Spirit. The Scripture says, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” (Galatians 3:13-14). Meditate on these verses and speak them over your life daily to enact their power over your life.

4. From Elements of the World
Though we live in this world, we are not of this world. This world is under a curse and has nature laws governing it. As I said before, spiritual laws supersede nature laws. Recall that Jesus walked on water (Matthew 14:22-33), commanded the storm to seize (Mark 4:35-41), and cause the multiplication of a few breads and fishes to feed thousands of people (Matthew 14:13-21). He also healed diverse diseases and cast out demons. Therefore, Jesus showed dominion over the elements of this fallen world. We can do the same as Christians but not until we grow up as Christians. The Scripture says, “Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” (Galatians 4:3-5). Therefore, do all you can as a Christin to GROW UP, especially by studying the Word of God.

Conclusion
Now that we understand what being a true Christian should be like, we need to understand that there are two areas that many Christians don’t focus on but are a big deal when it comes to Christianity. The first is how Christians use their words, and the second is how they care for others around them. The scripture tells us that with our words we can negate our Christianity, and sent our life on the cause of hell (James 3:1-13). Therefore, let us use our words positively, and stop gossiping and complaining. The Scripture says, “If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.” (James 1:26).

The scripture then went on to say that if we do not care for others we might miss out on eternity. Recall the story of the Rich man and Lazarus that the rich man went to hell after he died just because he didn’t care for the poor man, Lazarus, who was at his gate in need of food, shelter, and medical care (Luke 16:19-31). The Scripture says, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” (James 1:27).

Therefore, these two things are key things that Jesus said he will be looking out for when it returns. So, let’s not just focus on trying to live Christianity and save ourselves alone, but let’s watch how we speak and care for others.
I pray that God opens your eyes to see the truth of this message and to align your life according to His Will. If this message blessed you, kindly share it with others. If you also have a testimony or just gave your life to Christ, write us at info@revelationtoend.org. God bless.

TRUE CHRISTIANITY

Introduction

The three spiritual laws that exist on Earth are;
1. The Law of Sin and Death
2. The Law of Commandments and Ordinances
3. The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus
And two natural laws are;

Here are some of the things God has delivered Christians from when they get Born Again;
