In the beginning, God spoke the heavens and earth into existence (Genesis 1:1-3). His Word, brimming with divine power, not only created but continues to sustain all things (Hebrews 11:3). This Word became flesh in Jesus Christ, through whom everything we see—and even what we cannot see—was made. Jesus is the living Word, the embodiment of God’s creative and redemptive power.
The Jews of Jesus’ time clung to the Scriptures, believing they held the key to salvation. Yet, Jesus revealed that the Scriptures point to Him (John 5:39). The Gospel, the message of Christ, carries the power to save humanity (Romans 1:16). However, this power is hindered by unbelief. In His hometown, Jesus could do few mighty works because of the people’s lack of faith (Mark 6:5-6). Their doubt limited the manifestation of God’s power.
This struggle with unbelief is not new. The Israelites in the Old Testament heard God’s promises but failed to enter His rest because they did not mix the message with faith (Hebrews 4:1-2). The same challenge persists today. To experience the fullness of God’s power, we must trust in His Word, even when physical reality seems contrary. By believing and boldly speaking His truth, we align ourselves with His transformative power, seeing His promises come to life.
Let us hold fast to faith, trusting in the authority of God’s Word, and watch as it shapes our reality for His glory.
