🌟 Walking in the Light
📖 Foundational Truth
The Scriptures present two distinct paths in life:
⦁ The broad and wide road — leading to destruction.
⦁ The narrow road — leading to life.
(Matthew 7:13–14)
Ephesians 5:13 reminds us:
“But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.” (KJV)
Whatever reveals the truth is light.
💡 Jesus, the Light of the World
Isaiah prophesied:
“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” — Isaiah 9:2 (KJV)
Jesus Himself declared:
“I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” — John 8:12 (KJV)
In Him is life — and that life is our light:
“In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” — John 1:4 (KJV)
This is why He sent the Holy Spirit to lead us:
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” — Romans 8:14 (KJV)
⏳ Walk While You Have the Light
There is urgency in following the light. Jesus warned:
“Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light.” — John 12:35–36 (KJV)
He spoke these words to disciples who feared following Him to Jerusalem because the Jews sought to stone Him. But Jesus understood the time and the urgency:
“Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.” — John 11:9–10 (KJV)
🛠️ The Time to Work is Now
“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” — John 9:4 (KJV)
We cannot delay obedience. There will come a time when opportunities to serve and obey God’s call will no longer be available.
❤️ Walking in Light Means Walking in Love
True light is inseparable from love:
“Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.” — 1 John 2:8–10 (KJV)
📌 Four Keys to Walking in the Light
Believe in Jesus to remain in the light — “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” — John 12:46
Fellowship with Christ — “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.” — 1 John 1:6
Keep God’s commandments — “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth).” — Ephesians 5:8–9
Love others sincerely — 1 John 2:8–11
