Introduction
Praise God for another day to share a thought with you. Today, I want to quickly introduce a topic titled “Wisdom For Today”, which I think is a much-needed topic for these times, because in today’s world, what we need more than any other thing is not riches or power but wisdom to know, to discern, and to understand what we must do now to prepare for the coming days, and ultimately the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Therefore, knowing the times we are living in is key to establishing the Wisdom we need for Today. The Scripture says, “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; …” (1 Chronicles 12:32).
The Jews missed the first coming of Jesus Christ because they did not discern the time of their visitation. Right now they are still awaiting the first coming of the messiah when Jesus Christ, who is the messaih that they were expecting had already come 2000 years ago. What a waste of time for just missing out on divine timing. I pray this will not be anyone’s portion in the coming season. Missing out on divine timing may cause eternal loss, this is why we must take this message from God seriously.
My definition of Wisdom is simply “knowledge applied appropriately at the right time to produce the best result”. So timing is key to the efficacy of Wisdom.
The world today is in a very messy situation that is filled with a lot of uncertainties, so that we see unprecedented economic, social and natural instability in various parts of the world. There are wars and rumours of wars starting with the prevailing war between Russia and Ukraine and the fear of a nuclear war. There are also rumours of wars between the US and China, Israel and Iran, North Korea and South Korea, and China and Taiwan.
In early 2022, the world was recovering from the Coronavirus pandemic when it began to experience another wave of challenges that has worsened the global economic situation even further.
At the same time, there have been waves of natural disasters in various parts of the world to contribute to the global woes. There has been flooding in various parts of the world simultaneously which has destroyed not only lives and animals but farmlands. This is expected to bring imminent famine in many affected countries and increased food prices due to food shortages in various parts of the world. Consequently, the world will be facing unprecedented perilous times ahead.
Nevertheless, this should not surprise Christians as the scriptures and even Jesus foretold of these end-times events, saying, “ And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.” (Matthew 24:6-7).
These events will cause the world to be so divided that it eventually would be broken further into different blocs, which will not agree with each other. It is during these times that America would lose its dominance as a world superpower. God revealed this in a prophesy to Daniel regarding these divisions between nations in the last days before the second coming of Jesus Christ. The scripture reads, “And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.” (Daniel 2:41-42).
It is in the midst of that chaos that one, even the Antichrist, will emerge to unify the world through a One-World Government (Daniel 9:26); and because of economic growth and security, many countries will be compelled to join to enjoy trade within the One-World Government Countries. However, all that is happening and will happen is just the beginning of trouble for Christians particularly (Matthew 24:8), because it is setting up the stage for a one-world government, which will at the same time setup a universal religion as a way of harmonizing all world religions to one in a guise of peace. Believe me, the framework of all these is already in the making, so execution will be easy when the time comes.
It is at this time that Christians will begin to be globally persecuted on earth, and many will fall away from the faith, rejecting Jesus Christ to save their lives on earth. Persecution will start by denial, segregation and rejection before it turns to physical attacks and killing of Christians. Jesus said, "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.” (Matthew 24:9-10).
So what begins as a prolonged deep recession of the world economies will become the persecution of all Christians around the world from the system that will emerge to solve the former, and we Christians must be ready for it. Christians must take God more seriously now because it will require divine provision to overcome the system that the world will be forced to serve. Of a truth, this generation will see this come to pass.
WHAT MUST I DO NOW AS A CHRISTIAN?
1.Build a Strong Relationship with God
The strength of our faith comes from our relationship with God. Many Christians don’t have a relationship with God, yet they call Him Father. How can we call God our Father and not spend quality time with Him to know Him more and hear from Him? The reason why Jesus Christ died for mankind is so that they can have a way to fellowship with the Father. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6).
Two ways God designed for Christians to fellowship with Him are through prayer and the study of the Word.
Prayer is a tool God designed after the fall of man for man to communicate with Him. For any relationship to be successful, there must be good communication. It is through communication that children learn from their parents and their parents understand the character of their children to guide them properly. The same thing applies in marriage; it is good communication in a marriage that makes marriage successful. Many marriages today lack good communication, which creates a void for misunderstandings and assumptions that lead to divorce. Couples must open up to each other about their strengths and weaknesses and talk to each other about everything respectfully. In the same way, the more time we spend with God daily, the more we understand His ways.
Daniel’s source of strength came from prayer and that was why he was a man of excellence and deep revelation of God’s Word and Wisdom. The devil knew it and that was why he went after Daniel’s prayer life. The devil has attacked many Christian's prayer life to weaken their faith, but I pray today that God will deliver them from the bondage of a prayerless Christian life.
Most people only pray when they want something from God, but prayer is meant to be a tool foremost for fellowship. Let us, therefore, learn to use it as a means of fellowship.
As for the Word of God, it is God’s love letter to mankind to reveal His Will, to guide humanity in this dark world, to deliver them from this present evil world, to strengthen and give Hope of His Salvation. The scriptures, “Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:3-6)
Our faith and spiritual growth as Christians are anchored on our understanding of God’s Word. However, we cannot understand what we do not know; and if we do not know, we cannot have the opportunity to believe the Word of God (Romans 10:17). The scriptures tell us that every word of God is of wisdom, and if we seek it we will find it (Proverbs 2:6).
Many Christians in this generation have easy access to the Word of God but do not value it. There was once a time when it was hard for people to have access to God’s Word because there was no bible, and people longed to hear just a word. Now, the bible is abundantly available but people trivialize it because they don’t know how valuable it is. However, in the coming days, the table will turn back, and the bible will become scarce in the world.
What a privilege this generation has thrown away. However, it is not too late till it is late. Now is the time to make the necessary sacrifice to study and retain the scriptures in your mind.
If we read the scriptures but we forget what we read, we are no different from a person that has not read it at all. The number one destroyer of destinies is the lack of knowledge or knowledge forgotten. The scripture says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” (Hosea 4:6).
In a generation where fame and wealth are all that matters to people, I advise the youth of this generation to follow after godly knowledge that will guarantee them eternal life. They must be careful not follow after youthful lust and fame enhanced by peer pressure, because it is better to sow now in tears and reap later in joy: It is the end is what will eventually count. So leave the 60 seconds of fame and fabulous lifestyle that your peers are enjoying for one that has a solid foundation on the Word of God. The scripture says, “The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.” (Matthew 11:19).
2. Obey and Serve God in their Area of Calling
When we know God’s Word, purpose or instruction, the next thing is to do it and keep doing it if we must build a strong foundation and see results in life. Many Christians know and have heard the Word of God preached to them or from their personally study of the bible, but yet they don’t obey it because they lack the love of God or the fear of God. Fear and Love are two powerful controlling forces in people's lives because it is what you fear or love that controls how you behave. If you love money, you will do anything to get it, but if you love or fear God, you will do everything to keep His commandment even in the face of death. It is because people love their lives more than they love God that they do everything to pacify their fleshly lust rather than God. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15).
For example, if there were only two roads to the other side of a town, and a person wants to travel there but heard news that on the road on the left there is armed robbery going on, and on the other there are snakes. A person would probably choose the road on which he has the lesser fear. Therefore, fear is a controlling force which the devil uses a lot to control the world. If we don’t love God, the least we can do is have fear for His greatness. God would prefer to be loved, however, it is quicker to fear God when we understand His greatness and eternal power. There is none like God in the universe and there is no opposite to God. The opposite of God is not the devil because the devil is a created being, is limited by places and has limited power once given to him by God. Whereas for God, He was not created, is omnipotent and has unlimited power. So knowing this now, who do you think you should fear? Jesus said, “And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.” (Luke 12:4-5).
We must understand that it is not in the reading the scriptures that we are blessed by God and enjoy the benefit of salvation, but it is in the doing of God’s Word. So knowing the scriptures is good but it is useless when you don’t do anything with what you now know. The scripture says “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” (James 1:25).
Moreover, there will always be a day of evil in everyone’s life (2 Timothy 3:12), because as Christians, we live in a dark world where we must live wisely to have the advantage over the powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:13). So far in my experience, I have seen all kinds of deception and evil carried out by people who are especially close for selfish reasons; and what is more surprising is that it is as well prevalent in the body of Christ. Many false brethren behave like sheep so that they can be seen and elected to prominent positions in the Church because many leaders are judging people by outward appearance without any spiritual insight on their spirituality. We need the wisdom of God to escape these kinds of deception in the last days that is destroy the Church on earth.
The reason why Jesus wants Christians to walk in love is one wisdom that might not be understood completely. However, there is a lot of wisdom in it. There are people you will meet or might know for some time that might look like brethren or friends, even in the Church, but who are agents of darkness waiting to strike at the appropriate time to stop one’s blessing and destroy one’s joy. They cause situations to tempt or get one offended to step out of the commandment of love to achieve their devilish purpose. Therefore, we must love people but be firm with our actions to ensure we do not step out of God’s commandment. Jesus said, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16)
Now, if a Christian is not obeying God while there is no trouble in their life, is it when there is trouble that they will obey God? It is our obedience before the days of trouble that gives us strength to keep obeying God during the days of trouble. That is why we must start now because the days of trouble are getting closer. Whenever temptation and trial arise in a Christian’s life, they test a Christian’s obedience to God. And by this, I am not talking about temptation or trial that comes from one's lust and disobedience.
Jesus’ obedience was tested severally (Matthew 4:1-11), so how shall we not also be tested? The obedience of Daniel, Job and the Apostles were all tested up to the point that Satan even had to accuse Job of obeying God for the blessing (Job 1). This is why obedience to God must not be anchored on material or earthly things. If Job's obedience was anchored on earthly things, he would have sinned and lost all of God's blessings after his mishap.
Jesus describes an obedient Christian as one that has a rocky foundation that the storms of life cannot bring down, but a disobedient Christian as one who builds his life on a sand foundation that at the slightest temptation or trial they easily fall. Matthew 7:24-27 reads, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”
Our obedience to God does not just entail obeying God within the sphere of our comfort zone, but we must obey God out of our comfort zone and serve His divine purpose for our lives. God had a divine purpose for everyone that is brought into this world, and it is the same reason why He has kept you and I here on earth even after we get Born again (Jeremiah 29:11). Every divine purpose is always about the salvation of others and not ourselves. This was why Jesus Christ's first commandment to Christians after His resurrection was “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15). Therefore, our obedience to God should not be negotiated for anything in this life if we must survive the coming season.
3. Building Up our Faith towards Divine Provision
Mankind has built a worldly system that puts self first to meet ones daily needs. People work hard daily to make ends meet or to obtain money. In order words, the system of the world is designed to exchange your time and labour in life for money without any eternal benefit. Therefore, everything one works so hard for here on earth, they save up just to leave behind for another to enjoy. However, the system of the Kingdom of God works differently. The Kingdom of God provides for its citizen by the principle of faith and the principle of seed time and harvest. That means you don’t have to do anything to have your daily needs met or your request answered than to be part of the kingdom and ask in faith. Therefore, we don’t work to get our needs met as Christians. The scripture says, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:24).
However, the problem many Christians have is receiving the answers to their request. To receive from God, a Christian’s faith must remain intact until they receive physical evidence. Secondly, a Christian must be well positioned so that the devil does not steal their answers. Yes, the devil can steal answers to people’s prayers by manipulating them to sin, getting them to a place of offence and unforgiveness, and distracting them from remaining in position to receive their answers through disobedience. The scripture says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10).
Therefore, maintaining and prioritizing a good relationship with God, obedience to His commandment, and seeking the good of His Kingdom of God positions a Christian to receive from God, and sometimes without even asking, because God knows what you need before you even ask. The scripture says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)
Furthermore, the principle of sowing and reaping is a law of God's Kingdom that gives opportunities to any Christian to reap multiplied harvest of whatever they sow in life here on earth and also in Heaven. The scripture says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke 6:38).
We can sow anything and reap the same multiplied in the same kind. If you sow mercy, you reap mercy; if you sow goodness, you receive goodness; if you sow love, you receive love; if you sow material things, you will receive of the same; but if you sow evil and wickedness, you will receive of the same kind. The scripture says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” (Galatians 6:7-8).
The principle of sowing and reaping is the only way we can transfer our wealth to the future and also store it in Heaven towards eternity. The natural human being will want to acquire money to save it for the future, but in God’s Kingdom, we trust God to be our provider and sow much of what we have to reap it in the future. Therefore, the best way to secure a future is to sow good seeds. The scripture says, “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.” (1 Timothy 6:17-19).
Understanding the seasons of life and God’s plan in different seasons in this time-bound world is a key aspect of wisdom to knowing how one should be prepared for the days ahead and fully benefit from it. The Scriptures says, “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment” (1 Chronicles 12:32).
To further illustrate that dealing with Wisdom requires timing and preparation, let us look at a parable that Jesus told regarding preparation for His Second Coming. Jesus began the parable by telling us that there were 10 virgins: Five (5) being foolish did not prepare enough for the future as they only took enough oil to last for the night on the day of their visitation; while the remaining Five (5) virgins that were considered wise had the foresight to prepare for the future in that they took extra oil for their lamps in preparation for an extended wait in the day of their visitation. When the bridegroom that the 10 virgins were waiting for came late in the midnight unannounced, the five (5) foolish virgins woke up to find out they had run out of oil for their lamp. Consequently, they had to go buy extra oil but returned to find out they have missed out. What they would have foreseen and avoided through preparation cost them everything (Matthew 25:1-13). Therefore, anyone who deals with wisdom deals with foresight. That is why no one can be wiser than God because only He can foretell tomorrow; the best thing anyone can do is only predict the future without any certainty. The Scripture says, God, “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” (Isaiah 46:10).
Furthermore, I went on to talk about how we can discern the times we are living in and how we can apply wisdom for the days ahead. Today, it is no news that the world is facing perilous times, which the scriptures already revealed must happen before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:6-8). Countries are already rising against one another in war, and there is unrest in many parts of the world. Jesus said that this will be the sign of the beginning of sorrows (Matthew 24:8), especially for Christians. I believe that all that the world is facing today is setting up the world for a new world government, which shall form a universal religion in the pretext of peace; but through this universal religion, Christians will be persecuted all over the world. So, after the economic and social unrest, Christians all around the world shall begin to experience various degrees of persecution for their faith (Matthew 24:9-10).
Having reiterated the last message, I want us to understand how wisdom works and the different kinds of wisdom.
I earlier defined Wisdom simply as “knowledge applied at the right time to produce the best result”. From our simple definition of Wisdom, we can break up wisdom into 3 parts - knowledge, action, and timing. It is these three (3) factors that determine if a person is wise or not.
We have already shown from the scriptures that time is relevant to applying wisdom properly. Nevertheless, anyone that has wisdom deals with knowledge. It is the knowledge that a person has that can determine if they will end up making a wise decision because there are various sources of knowledge: some knowledge come from facts or assumptions, but the truth stands out in the end. In order words, the facts can seem to be correct at the present, but it is the end that justifies whether that fact will still be the truth. Jesus was accused of casting out demons with the power of devils, and of eating instead of fasting, but Jesus said, “The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.” (Matthew 11:19).
In order words, Jesus was saying the wisdom of the truth will prevail at the end. Many things the scriptures tell Christians to do looks foolish and weak, nevertheless, that is the wisdom we need as Christians to overcome the wiles of the devil and this evil world. This world is filled with hatred, bitterness, envy, and all kinds of evil works, which if you consider you might want to be bitter and unforgiving, even when Jesus had told us to love our enemies (Matthew 5:44). We might not understand the wisdom in that but staying in love keeps us under God’s protection, which is why the devil wants us to fall out of the commandment of love, so he can attack us as Christians.
Now, to a natural man, God’s Wisdom is foolishness. In the world’s wisdom, man will want to revenge themselves for every evil of men, but we have to stay in love no matter what, even though for the present it might be painful. The Scripture says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14).
We are entering into a period in which Christians will be deceived, and betrayed by close friends, relations, and even family members. Nevertheless, we must remain in love because we must realize that these attacks are the devil’s wiles to getting us out of the love commandment. Many Christians will not understand, being carnal, will feel betrayed by God, and out of anger and bitterness reject Christ, and turn away from the faith. There are already many people in many countries that were once known to be Christian nations that are turning from Christianity to other religions just because of trials they have experienced or the convenience of being free from God’s commandments. The scripture says, “And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” (Matthew 24:10-12).
We have to understand that there are three sources of Wisdom, but only one has the truth. The three (3) sources of wisdom are:
1. The Wisdom of the World (Worldly Wisdom)
2. The Wisdom of Devils (Devilish Wisdom)
3. The Wisdom of God (Godly Wisdom)
There are physical laws and also spiritual laws which inform the different kinds of wisdom. The Wisdom of the World is based on Physical laws derived from sensual perception and/or sentient. The Godly and Devilish Wisdom are spiritually informed and therefore, are superior to Worldly Wisdom. However, the devilish wisdom is fuelled by pride and fear while the Godly Wisdom is fuelled by the fear of God, faith, power, and Love. The Scripture says, Worldly and Devilish Wisdom “descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above (Godly Wisdom) is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy” (James 3:15-17).
1. The Wisdom of the World
The Wisdom of the World derives its knowledge from the information of this world. When God created the world, He set into motion physical laws to establish it. And mankind through what we know today as science has researched them to form the Wisdom of the World. The Scripture says, God “hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.” (Jeremiah 51:15).
Physical laws are typically conclusions based on repeated scientific experiments and observations over many years and have become accepted universally within the scientific community (From www.toppr.com). For example, we have Newton's law of universal gravitation which usually states that every particle attracts every other particle in the universe with a force that is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers (From Wikipedia.org). From these comes the law of gravity, which we know to have an acceleration of 9.8m/s2 for any free-falling object towards the earth.
However, these physical laws can be overridden by spiritual laws. Therefore, the Wisdom of the World or Science, even though are good sources of information has its limitations. Sadly, we have people who solely rely on this wisdom and reject the power of God due to human reasoning (also called critical thinking) that lacks the capacity to figure out the unexplainable working of God’s power. In order words, whatever such people cannot understand or come to a logical conclusion in their minds, they reject. Many people today reject the Gospel of Christ because they cannot understand the wisdom behind it, yet it is the power of God to save mankind from the power of sin and eternal death to those that can believe and receive of the finished work of Jesus. The Scripture says, “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:21).
Through the Wisdom of this World, mankind wants to use science to prove the existence of God before they can believe in Him; but science can never find God except God chooses to reveal Himself. However, God has not only given mankind evidence of God through the public display of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross over 2000 years ago, but He has also through many unexplainable miracles and wonders of creation left evidence that He exists. Nevertheless, men in the foolishness of their hearts and vain imaginations have continued to refuse to believe in God because they seek logical proof of Him. Therefore, no one will be without excuse for not seeking God and His salvation on His day of judgment, which is getting closer by the day. The Scripture says, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,” (Romans 1:20-22).
We must know that God did not set physical (natural) laws to rule over mankind because God made first made mankind spiritual beings that had souls, which He put in bodies (Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 2:6-7, 1 Thessalonians 5:23). However, after falling to sin, mankind lost touch with the spiritual realms due to the death of their spirit to sin, which therefore conditioned them to live under physical laws. This was why the Old Testament laws were more of physical works than of faith.
Now, as the nature of the fallen man is to quickly forget what it had once seen after some time, mankind being disconnected from the reality of the spirit world, completely lost touch with the spiritual realm, and soon started to seek after only earthly things. This was why God said after the fall of man said, “My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” (Genesis 6:3).
Moreover, the wisdom of this world is limited to the realm of this world compared to God’s Wisdom which functions beyond the realms of this world. There are many mysteries and situations that mankind is unable to resolve using the wisdom of this world because they are spiritual in origin. For example, sin is a spiritual disease and that is why it has no cure but in Jesus Christ. No matter the laws and punishment mete towards sin, the issue of sin cannot be resolved through earthly wisdom. The best those laws can do is to reduce it in the community for a while.
Also, the wisdom of the world through science has advanced in medicine significantly. However, there are still many diseases that they cannot cure because they are demonic in nature. We know from scriptures that while Jesus was physically on earth, He had to cast out demons to heal people. The Scripture says, “And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.” (Matthew 9:33)
Therefore, I admonish anyone that thinks that they are wise in this world to drop their earthly wisdom to embrace the Wisdom of God. Moreover, the wisdom of this world usually emerges from selfishness and tends to pride. Therefore, the wisdom of this world cannot function alongside the wisdom of God, which is propelled by love and humility that tends to life. The Scripture says, “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.” (1 Corinthians 3:18).
2. The Wisdom of Devils (Devilish Wisdom)
The second kind of wisdom is the Wisdom of Devils. The Wisdom of Devils is more superior to the Wisdom of the World because it is a spiritual form of wisdom. This makes the Wisdom of Devils to have the advantage over the Wisdom of the World because of its spiritual insight. In order words, the wisdom of the world is blinded to spiritual things while the wisdom of devils is not; it sees both physical and spiritual. Fighting any war with an invisible enemy gives that enemy more advantage over the former. Even in today’s modern warfare, the use of stealth fighters gives the needed advantage in a time of war. If mankind was able to see into the spirit realm to know what the devil is actually doing, and they have the foresight to know where he and those that serve him will end up compared to what God has made available for their salvation through the finished works of Jesus Christ, and its great power of deliverance through the gospel of Jesus Christ unto eternal salvation, all of mankind would have chosen to serve God rather than fall for the deception of the devil. However, many people ignorantly and unconsciously, serve the devil because they are spiritually blind. The Scripture says, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2 Corinthians 4:4).
Mankind’s Spiritual blindness began when they were disconnected from God through sin, which led to their spiritual death. Today, many people in the world are working with their carnal senses, which makes them see and think spiritual things are foolish or just plain religious rituals. This is one of the great deceptions the devil has capitalized on to keep much of the world under his control without them knowing. The Scripture says, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” (Revelation 12:9)
Much of the world live their daily lives as if there is no spiritual side, just because they can’t see, understand or discern the spiritual realm; thus, they miss out on receiving the good things that God has for them, and rather become victims of the devil’s manipulation and evil works on earth. The scripture says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14).
However, some people consciously obtain the Wisdom of Devils through demonic possession just for the sake of earthly riches, power, and fame. The Scripture tells us how the Devil will possess a man before the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus, who will rule the world for a short season in authority and power. This man shall be known as the Antichrist, a person I believe is already living in our generation only waiting to be fully manifested when his time comes.
So, the devil is ready to give the good things of life for your soul, but we must be wise to reject his offer. The Scripture tells us of how the devil offered Jesus all of the glory of this world just if He could worship him. However, Jesus rejected this offer and rebuked the devil (Matthew 4:1-11). It is sad that many people, not knowing the full implication of what the devil is offering them, make a pact with him to serve him with their lives in exchange for riches, power, and fame. There are many popular and rich people today who have a pact with the devil, but the ignorant people in the world are envious of their status, not knowing the source of their wealth and influence.
One major agenda of the devil is to ensure he does not suffer and die alone in eternity; therefore, he uses the people that have a pact with him to initiate other people to serve in the devil’s kingdom. And even with all the fame and influence the devil promised them, they have no peace and no hope of eternal life. What can be more important than that?
The bitter truth is that all the good things that people seek from the devil’s hand comes from God. God is the giver of lasting wealth and influence that comes with peace (Proverbs 10:12). Since the devil is not a creator and cannot generate wealth, he steals the wealth of people with great destinies and transfers it into his kingdom.
Most times, the devil does this by keeping people with such great destinies in sin so that he can have access to their virtue and wealth. Other times the devil does this by asking for a sacrifice of a life so that he can transfer that person’s destiny and wealth to those who serve him. There are also other times, the devil tricks people with great destinies to join him so that he can use the gift and the glory of God in their life for his purpose rather than God’s purpose. The scripture tells us of how the devil deceived Eve about who she was in God and caused her and Adam to sin so he could steal their glory (Genesis 3:1-11). This was the glory he offered to Jesus Christ for worship which Jesus rejected (Matthew 4:1-11). Today, he is still deceiving and offers many fake glories, and many people are falling for it because they are spiritually blinded. We must realize that God has made a way out of the hold of the devil through the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ so that we can enjoy His blessings and also make eternity. The Scripture says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10).
Many people do not realize the devil is playing the game of chess with their lives through manipulation. People must realize that not all thoughts that come into the mind are theirs, but the devil’s thoughts. People who are having sexual challenges and orientation, suicidal thoughts, anger, depression, and such, are dealing with demonic influence attacking their minds. Therefore, no earthly wisdom or science can resolve it. The only permanent solution is deliverance that comes through Jesus Christ. Therefore, you should see a pastor who knows about deliverance in the name of Jesus to get set free.
In the same way, people who are in witchcraft and occultism are dealing with demonic possession. Most people don’t know this till they get deeper into it. So, if you are trying to play with witchcraft and occultism you should know you are about to make a covenant with the devil that becomes a life’s trap.
People do not know that devils are jealous that humans have bodies and they don’t have one, which is why they seek an available vessel to possess to influence this world negatively, while also seeking to destroy the human flesh through abuse and various harmful means i.e., illicit sex (prostitution, fornication, same-sex, etc,), drugs, alcohol, bodily injury, etc. It is just a pity that people don’t know this, and so they allow themselves to be used by the devil. Treasure your body because it is meant to be a temple for the Holy Spirit and not devils. The Scripture says, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).
We also find these days many false pastors and prophets obtaining and using demonic wisdom and powers to deceive people to gain fame and wealth. Sadly, there are many demonic agents that have penetrated deeply into the Church leadership, and are causing havoc in the body of Christ because the Church is being coming more carnal and lukewarm. We need to pray for the Church more than ever so that the Lord can speedily get rid of these evil agents of darkness in the church. God has revealed to me that He will start judging wickedness on the earth, starting from His Church so that He can bring a great revival.
3. The Wisdom of God
I believe you can now see how the Wisdom of Devils thrives by exploiting the weakness of mankind through fear, envy, pride, selfishness, and anger. This is contrary to the Wisdom of God which the scripture describes as “first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” (James 3:17).
The Wisdom of God is also spiritual form of wisdom that has the backing of all of God’s power to ensure it never fails. Moreover, even in the spiritual realm, its working is invisible to the power of darkness. The Scripture says, “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1 Corinthians 2:7-8).
Recall that it seemed as if the devil was winning when Jesus Christ was crucified. However, the death of Jesus became the greatest mistake the devil ever made because through the death of Jesus, God disarmed the devil and spoiled all of his works for eternity: that is to say that through the death of Jesus Christ, God made atonement for all of mankind’s sins forever, and also made it possible by the resurrection of Jesus from the dead for mankind to be restored to their original spiritual state of glory before their fall to sin. The Scripture says, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” (Colossians 2:15)
Therefore, do not give up on following God despite the challenges you are facing, because all the bad and good things you have experienced in life God will use for His glory if we keep loving and obeying. The Scripture says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28).
When a person gets Born Again, they have access to the Wisdom of God because they receive a new spirit that is born in the image and the likeness of God (2 Timothy 1:7). However, fear is one of the greatest hindrances to the use of that wisdom for many Christians. Fear empowers the devil to manipulate people out of wisdom because it distorts a sound mind so that people become confused and unable to act wisely. The Scriptures says, “Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.” (Ecclesiastes 7:7).
Persecution will be one major strategy the devil will use to attack Christians with fear in the last days. The Scriptures tell us that there will be increased persecution in the last days, which will lead many Christians to be confused about Christianity and thereby fall away from the faith. (Matthew 24:10-12).
So, where there is fear, wisdom cannot function properly except it is the fear of God. The fear of anything shows faith in that thing’s ability to hurt and afflict one. Therefore, when a person has the fear of God, they avoid anything that would not please God, but would rather do those things that will please Him. Don’t you wonder that despite all the gospel messages that this generation has heard preached to them, many people have refused to change or obey them? There has never been any generation like this that is so privileged to easily have access to the bible and the Word of God preached to them through every available media. Yet, many people trivialize this privilege for the numerous distraction the devil has also brought out to steal people’s attention from what really matters. This is where the fear of God comes to play on what we prioritize. There are so many options to Jesus Christ in our days, but the fear of God will allow people to always choose God and depart from evil. However, today, people do not have the fear of God again and that is why the world is in the state it is today. The scriptures say the wicked will do wickedly because “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” (Romans 3:18).
God is not a God that rules by fear, but just knowing more about His greatness and eternal power, causes us to have a reverential fear of Him. This is what is missing in the body of Christ today that has allowed many to continue in sin and their wicked ways rather than in the ways of godly wisdom and life. Therefore, if we must walk wisely and have godly understanding, we must first have the fear of God and live in obedience to God’s Word. So, let us put first things first if we want to walk in godly wisdom. This is why the scripture says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10).
We are surely in the last days and it is getting harder to live without the Wisdom of God. There is wickedness and evil in nearly every corner of the world. This is no different from the days of Noah when God had to destroy the whole world with a flood (Genesis 6-7). Therefore, we need to ensure we are guided by divine wisdom and not our sight or feelings so that we don’t fall into the devil’s traps. We also need wisdom for strategies and ways to preach the gospel at these end times because as the coming of Jesus approaches, it will also be getting harder to preach the gospel to people. Jesus said, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16).
Many times, Christians mistakenly apply the wisdom of the world thinking they are applying the wisdom of God. This might yield results but most times this result is birth-out of selfishness that hurt others. So, we must realize that any wisdom that is birth out of selfishness and more concerned with taking advantage or profiting over others, especially in the area of their weakness or their hurt, cannot be of godly wisdom. One of the qualities of godly wisdom is that it is birth out of Godly love, which does not seek to hurt others for advantage. Other qualities of the Wisdom of God are;
1. First pure – Godly wisdom comes from a sincere heart that is filled with the knowledge of the truth of God’s Word and hates evil. Therefore, reading the scriptures to acquire godly knowledge is needed to be wise.
2. Peaceable – Godly wisdom produces actions that seek peace foremost.
3. Gentle – Godly wisdom acts in humility and tenderness towards others.
4. Easy to be intreated – Godly wisdom does not seek to always have its way especially if the outcome is not sinful.
5. Full of mercy – Godly wisdom is filled with compassion for others. It does not look at the mistake of others to weigh its action.
6. Good fruits – Godly wisdom has its evidence in the good works that affect others positively.
7. Without partiality – Godly wisdom is not biased in its judgments or actions, favouring one person above the other.
8. Without hypocrisy – Godly wisdom is always faithful at all times. It does not behave differently to different people at different times.
Conclusion
I believe we now know that out of the three (3) wisdom we have discussed only one is actually needed: All other wisdom does not produce eternal gain except for godly wisdom; and since the essence of wisdom is the have the best gain, what other option do we have than to embrace godly wisdom. The scripture says, “Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:” (1 Corinthians 2:6).
Moreover, we must also know how to obtain and discern when we are operating in godly wisdom or not. This can be determined by filtering our thoughts through the Word of God or checking it with the characteristics of the godly wisdom listed above. However, the question anyone that desires to operate in godly wisdom would ask is how do I get Godly wisdom?
To have the ability to receive godly wisdom, a person must first be born again. When a person is born again, they receive a new spirit in the image and likeness of God, which can receive and operate in godly wisdom which is spiritual. To be Born Again, a person must first believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary and ask for the gift of eternal life which was made available by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The Scripture says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9).
So, if you want to be Born Again, just say the prayer below in faith:
PRAYER OF SALVATION
Dear Lord Jesus, I believe you died and rose again for me. Forgive me for my sins and come into my life. I confess Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you for writing my name in the Book of Life. In Jesus name, Amen.
If you said this prayer in faith, we believe you are Born Again. So, write us and share the good news with us, and we will be glad to tell you more about what to do next.
However, having access to wisdom does not mean a person has wisdom. There is a gift of wisdom and there is a knowledge of wisdom per time. The former can operate continuously without God’s input while the latter depends on the Holy Spirit. The former was the kind of wisdom that was given to Solomon after he asked for it. So, when you are Born Again, and you need more wisdom for life, ask in faith and God will give you. The scripture says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” (James 1:5-7).
However, Solomon isolated the use of the latter form of getting wisdom and didn’t end up well. This is what his father, David, did not ignore but always enquired from God before he did anything; and that is why he finished well. Therefore, having godly wisdom is not an excuse to not always inquire for knowledge of wisdom and direction from God. Many Christians have fallen into the devil’s snare and err from the faith because they have tried to live Christianity in their own wisdom and understanding without asking questions. The scripture says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Therefore, let us ensure we remain humble and keep asking God questions so we don’t remain victims of deception and end up in eternal destruction.
I pray we take this message seriously and do not quickly forget it. If this message has been blessed, kindly also share it with others. God bless.
